Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element) Ability to do the work of a(n) Maintenance Mechanic ~ without more than normal supervision. I can perform a variety of work primarily involving constructing, altering, repairing, and modifying items made of metal, wood, and wood substitutes. In addition, I have the ability to assemble, disassemble, install, repair, and modify steel stud framing, wood, and wood structures for structural soundness. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Physical Effort The incumbent makes repairs and installations from ladders, scaffolding, structural platforms, and crawl spaces. The incumbent regularly works in tiring, cramped, and uncomfortable positions for long periods, frequently standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, stretching, and crouching while performing repairs. Work involves pushing, pulling, turning, and positioning heavy mechanical parts, piping, and tools. The incumbent frequently lifts parts and equipment weighing up to 20 pounds, occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds, and utilizes team lifts or mechanical lifting devices (such as hoists, jacks, and cranes) for heavier items. Working Conditions Work is performed inside boiler rooms, mechanical spaces, and clinical areas on hard, damp, or uneven surfaces. The incumbent is regularly exposed to dirt, dust, grease, intense heat, exhaust fumes, loud noise, changing temperatures, and drafts. The incumbent must frequently stand on hard surfaces for long periods of time. Work is also performed outside in inclement weather, including mud, snow, and extreme temperatures. The incumbent is exposed to the distinct possibility of cuts, bruises, electrical shocks, nosocomial or bloodborne infections, steam burns, musculoskeletal strains, or chemical skin irritations. The incumbent must strictly follow prescribed safety practices and utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including hearing protection, hard hats, safety shoes, respirators, and infection-control barrier gear.
Major DutiesOperate, maintain, and repair complex low-pressure steam, hydronic thermal generation systems, and comprehensive facility plumbing infrastructure within a clinical environment.Maintain daily operational oversight of a dual-boiler configuration with an aggregate capacity of 100 HP, along with auxiliary forced-air delivery systems, mechanical controls, and heat exchangers.Review, calibrate, and sustain complex high- and low-voltage electrical distribution networks, emergency branch circuits, switchgear, and overcurrent protection devices across clinical and administrative spaces.Prepare and apply specialized high-performance, clinical-grade coatings to diverse interior and exterior healthcare surfaces.Install, maintain, and repair complex domestic water, medical gas, vacuum, and sanitary waste systems to support active clinical operations and ensure strict infection control standards.Analyze and interpret complex blueprints, architectural schematics, and engineering drafts to plan and execute structural fabrications and precision finishes in strict alignment with hospital infection control and life safety code standards.Execute advanced electrical diagnostic troubleshooting, repairs, and component replacements across complex HVAC networks, while conducting rigorous preventative maintenance on critical utilities.Perform scheduled preventative maintenance, diagnostic troubleshooting, and emergency repairs on facility mechanical systems, infrastructure, and utility support equipment across the medical campus,
