The work schedule will be determined by the needs of the activity. Physical Effort: Light to moderate physical effort in lifting up to 45 pounds or pushing carts. Constantly standing, walking, stooping, bending, pushing, pulling, and reaching.

Qualifying Experience: Qualifying Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs): Must be able to follow simple oral instructions, be able to use hand tools for cleaning, and operate simple machines. Must be skilled in doing tasks with several steps and must use judgement in sequencing tasks. Must have knowledge of sanitation standards in handling and serving food, and for cleaning equipment and work area. Must be physically able to frequently lift or move objects weighing up to 40 pounds. Must be able to continuously stand and walk, and frequently stoop, reach, push, pull and bend for long periods of time. Must be at least 18 years of age, hold a high school diploma (or Equivalent) and must speak, read and write English. Conditions of Employment: Must be able to satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical. Must be able to obtain a Food Handler's Certificate and/or complete food handler's training. Successful completion and favorable adjudication of applicable background investigation (Tier 1 Level) is required. Immunizations are to protect both children and staff from preventable diseases and to maintain a healthy environment. The required immunizations are as follows: Annual Flu, DT, HEB A, HEB B, Varicella, and MMR. Continuous up to date immunizations is required.
Major Duties1. Food Preparation and Service: Washes, peels, scrapes, dices, slices, and shreds fresh fruits and vegetables for cooking and serving. Prepares salads, sandwiches, beverages, and other simple food items using standardized recipes and prepared ingredients. Portions food into standardized serving sizes to ensure consistency and nutritional compliance. Sets up cafeteria serving lines, steam tables, dining areas, and beverage stations with food, condiments, utensils, and supplies. Serves meals cafeteria-style while maintaining proper portion control and customer service. Prepares, loads, and delivers meal and snack carts to assigned classrooms or remote serving locations. Retrieves serving carts following meal service, cleans and sanitizes all equipment, and prepares carts for the next scheduled meal. Assists in ensuring meals and snacks are prepared and served according to established schedules and USDA meal requirements. 2. Sanitation and Facility Maintenance: Cleans and sanitizes kitchen equipment, serving areas, dining areas, food preparation surfaces, and utensils following established sanitation procedures. Operates mechanical dishwashers and performs routine preventive maintenance. Washes dishes, pots, pans, flatware, serving utensils, and kitchen equipment by machine or by hand as required. Sweeps, mops, waxes, and sanitizes floors. Performs heavy-duty cleaning of walls, ceilings, exhaust hoods, walk-in refrigerators, freezers, storage areas, and equipment. Launders kitchen towels, aprons, and linens. Collects food waste and trash, sanitizes waste containers, and transports refuse to designated disposal locations. Uses approved cleaning chemicals safely and follows established sanitation and food safety standards. 3. Logistics and Manual Labor: Assists with unloading deliveries of food, supplies, and equipment. Stores food and supplies using proper food rotation and storage procedures. Moves heavy garbage containers, food carts, and supply items throughout the facility. Assists with inventory organization and maintaining clean storage areas. 4. General Duties: Performs related food service duties as assigned. Maintains professional interactions with coworkers, supervisors, parents, and customers. Supports safe food handling practices and contributes to a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen operation. Position is designated as a Position of Trust.
