Job SummaryThis vacancy announcement may be used to fill positions at various Department of the Navy Commands, including but not limited to the Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command.

QualificationsSelective Placement Factor (SPF): This position has an SPF which is current registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) from any state, the District of Columbia, Guam or Puerto Rico. You must provide a copy of your current registration with your application. A copy of a wall certificate that does not show current registration status will not serve to verify you meet this requirement. Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience as a professional FIRE PROTECTION ENGINEER at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Preparing fire protection engineering design drawings, specifications and documentation for facility components and systems; 2) Preparing contract requirements, proposal and bidding procedures and documentation for the acquisition of facilities fire protection systems; 3) Managing fire protection projects to ensure project scope, schedules and costs are not exceeded; 4) Providing technical solutions to fire protection engineering issues. Major DutiesYou will execute in-house fire protection engineering design work products and services within specified milestones and quality standards.You will perform all aspects of fire protection engineering design for a wide variety of installation shore facility types.You will lead multi-disciplinary in-house (IH) design teams, executing IH projects as well as overseeing design efforts accomplished via Architectural/Engineering (A/E) firms.You will perform technical management and oversight on execution of multi-disciplinary design projects whether accomplished by IH or A/E forces.You will provide post construction award services (PCAS), including review and approval of contractor's submittals for conformance with the requirements of the contract drawings and specifications.You will mentor and train new and junior fire protection engineers within the organization.
