About the Role : We are seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to support our Group Financial Accounting team in a full-time, 12-month max term period based at our Melbourne CBD head office. The role will be responsible for delivering timely and accurate financial reporting, statutory compliance and month-end accounting activities across CitiPower, Powercor and United Energy distribution businesses. Reporting to the Group Financial Accounting manager, you will play a critical role in preparing statutory and shareholder reporting, supporting external audits, maintaining strong financial controls and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong accountant who enjoys working in a collaborative environment and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. Key Responsibilities: Complete month-end accounting activities, including journals, reconciliations and intercompany transactions. Support external audits through preparation of audit working papers and stakeholder coordination. Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial and shareholder reporting. Produce statutory financial statements and support corporate reporting obligations. Assist with technical accounting assessments, accounting papers and policy updates. Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, finance projects and process improvement initiatives. To succeed in this role you will have: Degree qualified in Accounting, Commerce or a related discipline. CA/CPA qualified or currently working towards professional accreditation. Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards, IFRS and statutory reporting requirements. 5+ years' experience in financial accounting, audit or corporate finance roles. Experience preparing financial statements, supporting audits and managing compliance obligations. Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP systems, preferably SAP. Strong attention to detail, analytical capability and the ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
