The Regional Asset Management team plays a vital role in supporting the long-term performance, reliability and safety of Queensland Rail's regional infrastructure assets. Through strategic asset management, risk-based planning and engineering excellence, the team helps optimise asset performance while ensuring investment decisions deliver value, safety and operational outcomes across the network. About the role We are seeking an experienced Principal Asset Management Engineer to provide technical leadership and specialist engineering expertise across Queensland Rail's Regional Asset Management teams. Reporting to the Manager Asset Performance, this role will lead asset management engineering initiatives that support strategic decision-making, asset reliability and continuous improvement across regional assets. This is a permanent full-time position based in Brisbane CBD, offering the opportunity to influence asset management strategies and drive outcomes that enhance the performance, safety and reliability of Queensland Rail's infrastructure assets. As a key member of the Asset Performance team, you will: • Lead and drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on asset management data quality, governance and integrity. • Coordinate and enhance Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) methodologies across Regional Asset Management teams. • Provide expert engineering advice to support risk-based, data-driven asset replacement strategies and capital planning activities. • Deliver professional engineering services including technical investigations, engineering assessments and asset performance reporting. Our ideal candidates will demonstrate the following experience, skills, and capabilities: You are a highly experienced engineering professional with a passion for asset management, strategic thinking and continuous improvement. You have a demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders, solve complex problems and deliver engineering outcomes that create measurable business value. • Extensive experience developing and implementing asset management strategies within a complex asset-intensive environment. • Highly developed stakeholder engagement, influencing, consultation, and negotiation skills. • Strong experience working with Enterprise Asset Management Systems (EAMS), including SAP-based asset management platforms. • Demonstrated expertise delivering professional engineering outcomes across asset management, infrastructure maintenance, engineering analysis, inspections, investigations and project delivery.
