As Investment Oversight Programme Lead, you'll play a key role in providing independent oversight of major investments and programmes, helping ensure we remain focused on the initiatives that deliver the greatest strategic, financial, service and public value. You'll develop and implement the framework, governance approach and assurance plan that enables Council to monitor, evaluate and realise the benefits of its investments across their full lifecycle. Working closely with functional and senior leaders, you'll ensure major investments have clearly defined benefits, remain aligned with approved business cases, strategic priorities and statutory obligations, and continue to deliver value through to implementation and beyond. Key responsibilities will include: Provide independent oversight and assurance of significant investments and major programmes, ensuring alignment with Council’s Long-term Plan, strategic priorities and approved business cases Develop and implement the investment oversight framework, governance approach, reporting and assurance plan, working with functional leaders to strengthen how benefits are identified, measured and realised Ensure significant investments and programmes have clearly defined benefits that are actively managed and evidenced across the full investment lifecycle, from business case development through to post-implementation review Provide oversight of financial, service and wider public value benefits, ensuring Council’s investments deliver the outcomes and value expected for Auckland He kōrero mōu: About you We're looking for an experienced investment, finance or strategy professional who can bring strong analytical capability and sound judgement to complex investment decisions. You'll have a strong track record in financial analysis and modelling, with the ability to interrogate complex business cases, assess investment proposals and translate data into clear insights and practical recommendations. Experience in benefits realisation, including developing and monitoring benefit statements and measurable outcomes, will be highly valued. You'll bring a strong understanding of public sector governance, local government legislation and strategic alignment, ideally gained within a large and complex organisation or government environment and through involvement in significant capital or investment programmes. You'll be confident navigating complex and politically sensitive environments, able to communicate complex issues clearly to a range of audiences, and influence leaders and stakeholders to achieve better outcomes. Your ability to lead strategic initiatives and change, combined with strong reporting and data analysis skills, will enable you to provide credible, evidence-based oversight and ensure investment decisions remain focused on delivering value for Auckland.
