As a Conventional Turner, you will work on different components and repair jobs every time. One day you might be machining steel or stainless steel, while the next job involves aluminium, bronze or plastic. In the machine shop, you will work with conventional machinery, including lathes and vertical lathes. There is no CNC-controlled production here: your technical insight and craftsmanship make the difference. You set up the machines, determine the best way to machine a component and check the quality and dimensions of your own work. As a Conventional Turner, your responsibilities include: - Conventional turning of various components; - Milling and grinding; - Setting up and operating conventional machinery; - Machining steel, stainless steel, aluminium, bronze and plastics; - Assembling and disassembling components; - Carrying out repair and custom machining work; - Checking dimensions and quality. You will work on components used in industrial and maritime applications. This makes the work varied and regularly presents you with new technical challenges.
