About this role
Job summary Community infection prevention in Leeds offers the opportunity to work with a wide variety of stakeholders and members of the public. Leeds is a diverse city with many health protection challenges and we work closely with other healthcare partners and our Public Health colleagues to prevent and respond to infection related incidents. This includes working to prevent the transmission of healthcare associated infections. We support over 150 care and nursing homes to meet their IPC responsibilities under the Health & Social Care Act (2008).
We are looking for an experienced community IPC practitioner, to lead within the IPC team on supporting the Leeds care home and adult social care economy with day to day IPC challenges, training and education, and quality assurance such as undertaking an audit programme.
This post could be undertaken as a part time or full time role. For a full time applicant, the role would also include generic IPC duties supporting the wider IPC team
Main duties of the job The main duties of the role are:
- develop and provide IPC training and education to care home and adult social care partners
- undertake the IPC audit programme for care homes
- offer bespoke support as needed to care homes in response to incidents or specific challenges
- work in partnership with local authority commissioners, sharing intelligence and information
- work with health protection colleagues on seasonal projects such as vaccination
- provide reports outlining the IPC activity undertaken in care homes and summarising the audit programme
- be the main point of contact and the IPC lead for the care home and adult social care economy
- support the wider IPC team with additional duties as necessary
