Job summary
The post-holder will provide personal medical services, managing a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients. The post holder is directly responsible to the Practice Manager for all organisational and administrative issues and the Partners for all clinical issues.
Main duties of the job
To provide face-to-face consultations, telephone consultations and home visits for housebound patients, dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion
To make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation
To undertake and request pathology, radiology and general screening tests as clinically appropriate and following up on all results and take appropriate action within an agreed upon time-frame
Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems
Prescribing in accordance with the Practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate. To aid in the signing of acute and repeat prescriptions as presented on a previously agreed schedule. Avoiding the use of hand-written prescriptions, where possible.

About us
We are looking to attract an enthusiastic, proactive and forward-thinking Salaried GP to work between 2 and 4 sessions per week in the Practice. Our Practice aim is to deliver a high standard of care to all our patients, who are of a mixed demographic. We take pride in maintaining a high level of patient satisfaction, as evidenced by our recent Ipsos Mori GP Patient Survey result.
We have a friendly and dedicated Reception and Administration team and have great support from our Practice Nurses and Health Care Assistants. We also have the support of an outstanding PCN Pharmacy team.
The Practice is situated in Ilkeston, Derbyshire, along the Derbyshire/Nottinghamshire border.
We have a list size of approximately 5100 patients.
Our clinical team currently includes two GP Partners, two Salaried GPs, two Practice Nurses and two Health Care Assistants.
We are a PMS Practice.
We currently utilise several different local services to aid in the management of on-day caseloads in Practice
We are currently rated Good by the CQC.
We have well-equipped premises with no parking restrictions on site.
We are a SystmOne using Practice.

To use the clinical system (TPP SystmOne) to record clear and contemporaneous computer based consultation notes to agreed standards
Referring patients externally, where appropriate, to local teams and organisations under local guidelines or utilising the in-house clinical team for further opinion as needed.
Working closely with the administrative team to manage caseloads, arrange follow-up, initiate referrals and deal with any day-to-day queries which may arise.
Providing counselling and health education
Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate
To attend regular on-site clinical meetings with the Partners and other members of the clinical team as requested
To provide a full range of medical services, as defined in the core GMS contract and additional enhanced services where appropriate
To undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.

Qualifications Essential
GMC registered and listed on the GP Register
Experience Essential
Experience of working in a Primary Care environment Sound knowledge of clinical governance Comfortable working as part of a team and also working as a sole GP on occasion Strong communication skills
