We have an exciting opportunity for a passionate and dedicated Consultant Liaison Psychiatrist to join our vibrant Exeter Liaison Psychiatry Team at Devon Partnership NHS Trust.

Main duties of the job

As a Consultant Liaison Psychiatrist, you will provide senior clinical leadership to our dynamic multidisciplinary Liaison Psychiatry service. This role also offers opportunities for development and clinical leadership within our Integrated Psychological Medicine Service.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Development:Lead and inspire a multidisciplinary team, driving service improvement projects and engaging in our robust service governance programme. The team continues to expand and deliver QI projects, some of which have been recognised nationally in recent years. Support and Supervision:We have strong organisational development support, dedicated medical staffing personnel and prioritise individual career development and team reflective practice. You will be well placed to provide supervision to all levels of trainee medical staff, fostering a supportive learning environment. You'll also have the chance to engage in teaching and training medical students. Research and Innovation:Pursue your research interests with the support of our close connection to The University of Exeter and our co-located R&D team at Wonford House Hospital. This team successfully runs multiple national trials and will support your interests in gaining or building on research experience.

Aptitudes and Values Essential

Teaching and Supervision Essential

Experience of teaching undergraduates and postgraduates.

Experience Essential

Prior experience working in a Multidisciplinary Mental health team. Experience of psychiatric practice in a range of settings, especially in acute inpatient hospital Settings. Experience of audit and an understanding of the principles of clinical governance.

Research Essential

Ability to interpret published research and to apply research findings to clinical practice.

Qualifications Essential

Full Registration with the General Medical Council. To hold Approved Clinician status at the point of taking up post. Eligible for inclusion in the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT at time of interview. Approved under section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act 1983.

Management Essential

Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and managers. Awareness of NHS management and funding arrangements.
