Job summary
We are a friendly, well-established training practice seeking a Sessional GP for 4 sessions per week, working Tuesdays and Fridays.
You will be joining a supportive clinical team comprising four GP Partners, two salaried GPs, and GP trainees, within a collaborative and forward-thinking primary care environment. We are a close-knit and approachable team with a strong emphasis on mutual support and informal case discussion. The practice uses EMIS Web and has a patient list of approximately 10,000 patients.
Main duties of the job
You will manage a patient list proportionate to your clinical sessions, providing high-quality care across a broad spectrum of primary care presentations. The role includes routine and acute care, alongside associated administrative responsibilities including QOF work.

Session Details
4 sessions per week (Tuesdays & Fridays) Morning: 08:00 13:00 Afternoon: 14:30 17:30 (last patient at 17:00 to allow for admin) Participation in duty rota (approx. 1 duty day per week, pro rata)
Key Responsibilities
Face-to-face and telephone consultations Management of acute and chronic conditions Home visits where required Safe, evidence-based prescribing in line with guidelines Management of test results, prescriptions, and clinical correspondence Maintaining clear, accurate, and contemporaneous records Participation in QOF, audits, and practice development Health promotion, screening, and patient education Referral to secondary care and other services as appropriate Contribution to care of patients in care home settings where required

Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
Fully qualified GP with GMC registration and inclusion on the GP Register Licence to practise and inclusion on the NHS Performers List
Experience Essential
Excellent clinical assessment and decision-making skills Ability to manage a wide range of undifferentiated presentations Strong communication and interpersonal skills Good organisational and time management abilities IT literate, with ability to use clinical systems (EMIS Web desirable) Commitment to high standards of patient care and clinical governance Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
Desirable
Experience in a training practice environment Experience with QOF and quality improvement activities Experience working with care home patients
