About this role

Job summary

We are looking for a Consultant Radiologist with an interest in Cardiac radiology to help support our two full time cardiac radiologists to cover a sabbatical and sick leave.

Bristol is a large volume, tertiary adult and paediatric centre for cardiology and cardiothoracic surgery and has a well-established cardiac CT and MRI service.

There are tertiary MDTs for adult congenital heart disease and cardiothoracics as well as specialist paediatric MDTs.

The post holder would also be expected to take part in the general work of the department including acute Ct and MRI cover and adult diagnostic radiology on call.

The post is well supported by cardiac radiology and cardiac fellows, radiology specialist registrars, radiographers and radiology nurses.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be expected to comply with all relevant Trust policies relating to administration of patient care. This includes working to set timescales for the triage of requests the completion of discharge summaries prior to patients being discharged, following the specified process for the management of patients that do not attend (DNA) their appointment or admission, and the completion of all paperwork deemed necessary to support the management of their patients within agreed timescales. Consultants are also expected to work with service managers and clinical colleagues to manage their caseload in a flexible way, to ensure both clinical, national and local priorities, such as maximum waiting times for referral to treatment, are achieved.

The successful candidates will also support general imaging in UH Bristol as well as acute imaging / on call 1:19 weekdays and 1:13 weekends. There is a separate interventional weekend on call rota.

Person Specification

Knowledge and Experience Essential

Full and specialist registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) Eligible for specialist registration within six months of interview Holder of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or evidence of within six months of award of CCT or equivalent by date of interview' FRCR

Desirable

Post graduate degree

Skills and Abilities Essential

Evidence of broad training in cardiac CT including cardiac CT and TAVI/ post op aorta studies. Confident in acute general CT and MRI studies

Paediatric cardiac CT and MRI Adult cardiac MRI

Qualifications and Training Essential

MBBS FRCR Broad training in adult radiology with specialist training in cardiac imaging,
