About this role

Job summary

Imaging services at NHS HHP are primarily located at all the main hospital sites in the group (Hull Royal Infirmary, Castle Hill Hospital, Diana Princess of Wales Hospital at Grimsby, Scunthorpe General Hospital, and Goole & District Hospital) and 3 CDCs at Hull, Scunthorpe and Grimsby. Our team of 80 consultant radiologists work across 4 hospital sites and 3 CDCs. 3 consultants are set to join the team over the next 6 months and recruitment of 7 more are ongoing. There will a substantial increase in imaging capacity with new Community Diagnostic Centres (CDC) recently opening at Scunthorpe, Grimsby and Hull. Imaging division sits with in the Specialist Cancer & support services care group led by Dr James Bailey - Chief of service, Helen Horth - director of operations and Wendy Krstenic - director of nursing

Main duties of the job

The appointee will join a team of 9 highly experienced vascular interventional radiologists providing the full spectrum of diagnostic and vascular interventional procedures. The department based in Hull, currently provides acute on call services 24/7 for vascular emergencies across various sites including Scarborough general hospital, Diana Princess of Wales hospital Grimsby and York for highly specialised vascular procedures.

The new post has arisen to meet the demand arising with a new hybrid theatre in main theatres where an opportunity is available to work alongside the vascular surgeons, performing a variety of endovascular procedures. The service offers an opportunity to be part of the stroke thrombectomy service currently running 8am-6pm 7 days a week. There is also an opportunity to take part in cardiac imaging for those colleagues possessing the required cardiac imaging accreditations.

Qualifications Essential

FRCR (UK) or equivalent qualification

Desirable

Postgraduate degree: e.g. MRCP or MRCS Postgraduate qualification in Education or significant experience in post graduate training

Fitness To Practise Essential

Full Registration with the GMC GMC Specialist Registration (or expected inclusion within 6 months)

UK CCT (IR) - interventional radiology
