*We are seeking a passionate, high-energy Sous Chef to work closely with our Executive Chef. This is an active, working role designed for a collaborative leader who thrives on direct involvement in daily kitchen operations, balancing administrative duties with a strong presence in culinary execution.*
What You Will Do
* *Foster a Great Work Environment: Help create, maintain, and promote a positive, respectful, and highly professional kitchen culture where team members feel supported and motivated.* * *Direct Culinary Participation: Actively participate in daily food preparation, cooking, and service execution for both the restaurant and banquet operations.* * *Lead Line Operations: Maintain an active presence on the line during peak hours, assisting with food assembly, line checks, and expediting to ensure smooth service.* * *Support Banquet Execution: Assist the team in the production, plating, and delivery of high-volume meals for large-scale corporate events, weddings, and conferences at the Ambassador Event Centre.* * *Supervise & Mentor: Oversee and guide the back-of-house culinary team by working side-by-side with them, leading by example and encouraging open communication.* * *Maintain Quality Standards: Ensure all food items produced adhere strictly to Hilton brand recipes, portion controls, and visual presentation standards.* * *Operational Oversight: Assist the Executive Chef with inventory control, ordering, food waste management, and enforcing Ontario food safety regulations.*
What We Are Looking For
* *Experience: Minimum 2?3 years of culinary leadership experience as a working Sous Chef, Junior Sous Chef, or Senior Lead Cook.* * *Positive Leadership Style: A professional who leads with empathy and respect, dedicated to maintaining an organized, stress-managed, and welcoming work environment.* * *Dual-Service Familiarity: Proven experience contributing to high-volume banquet production alongside standard restaurant a la carte service.* * *Technical Proficiency: Strong foundational culinary skills, including multi-station cooking proficiency, proper knife handling, and production planning.* * *Certifications: Valid Ontario Food Handler Certificate is required. Red Seal certification is considered an asset.* * *Availability: Full flexibility to work a rotating schedule including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.*
