About this role
*Overview* We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Orthodontic Hygienist to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care, supporting orthodontic treatment plans, and maintaining a positive patient experience. This position offers an opportunity to work in a fast-paced, friendly environment focused on delivering high-quality orthodontic services. Prior experience with dental hygiene and orthodontics is preferred, along with strong communication skills and a passion for patient education.
*Duties*
* *Patient Progress Reviews:* Assessing oral hygiene, tracking tooth movement, and ensuring treatment is progressing smoothly. * *Orthodontic Adjustments:* Removing and replacing archwires, ligatures, and coordinating regular adjustment appointments. * *Digital Imaging:* Taking high-quality digital X-rays, intraoral photos, and 3D digital scans. * *Debonding & Retention:* Assisting with bracket removal, removing residual cement safely, and fitting patients for retainers. * *Patient Education:* Coaching patients (and parents!) on proper brushing, flossing with braces, and compliance with aligners or elastics. * Maintain accurate patient records using TOPS or similar dental management software * Collaborate with the dental team to develop personalized care plans for each patient * Ensure infection control protocols are strictly followed to maintain a safe clinical environment * Provide excellent customer service by addressing patient questions and concerns professionally and compassionately
*Skills*
* Proficiency in orthodontic software is highly desirable * Knowledge of Orthodontics procedures and treatment protocols * Strong understanding of Medical terminology relevant to dental care * Excellent customer service skills with the ability to build rapport with patients of all ages * Prior office experience demonstrating professionalism, reliability, and attention to detail
*Job Information*
* We have three clinic locations that we rotate in weekly- Saint John, Quispamsis and St. Stephen (Mondays only) * Hours of operations are Monday- Thursday 8am-5pm (Fridays are available for clinic time if needed) * Travel to St. Stephen is with the clinic staff. You will not need to use your own vehicle * Salary will be based on orthodontic experience
