We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented *Part-Time Bookkeeper* to work with a variety of small business and agricultural clients. As a Part-Time Bookkeeper, your responsibilities will include: Bookkeeping & Accounting
* Completing bookkeeping for a variety of small business and agricultural clients * Recording and categorizing day-to-day financial transactions * Completing bank and credit card reconciliations * Maintaining accounts receivable and accounts payable records * Reviewing general ledger accounts for accuracy and completeness * Identifying discrepancies and following up on unusual or missing transactions * Preparing and posting adjusting journal entries as required * Maintaining organized and accurate accounting records * Assisting with bookkeeping clean-up and catch-up projects * Preparing client bookkeeping files for year-end accounting
Payroll & Government Remittances
* Processing payroll for clients * Calculating and recording payroll deductions and benefits * Preparing payroll remittances * Assisting with Records of Employment and T4 preparation * Preparing and filing GST returns * Assisting with other government filings and remittances as required * Monitoring filing and payment deadlines to help ensure client compliance
Client Relations
* Communicating directly with clients to obtain missing information and documentation * Following up with clients regarding outstanding bookkeeping items * Asking clear and relevant questions to efficiently resolve bookkeeping issues * Responding to routine client bookkeeping and payroll questions * Helping clients understand their bookkeeping records and processes * Providing friendly, professional, and timely client service * Developing strong working relationships with our clients
Teamwork & Organization
* Working closely with accountants and partners to ensure bookkeeping files are complete and accurate * Communicating questions or concerns before spending significant time resolving unfamiliar issues * Managing multiple client files and recurring deadlines * Keeping accurate records of work completed and items requiring follow-up * Taking responsibility for assigned tasks and following them through to completion * Participating in the development and improvement of bookkeeping processes and internal systems * Supporting other team members during busy periods * Taking on additional bookkeeping and administrative tasks as required
