*Summary*
The Agronomist provides support, service, and knowledge regarding crop inputs, as well as offering agronomic support to the Neerlandia Co-op grower customers.
*Product Knowledge and Sales*
* Provide complex support and knowledge of agronomic products to local co-op customers. * Using a full understanding of information on agronomy, provide complex agronomic information and advice on seed, pest identification and crop protection, and crop nutrients/fertilizer so customers can make informed decisions based on reported findings. * Perform complex farm customer service responsibilities, including field scouting, agronomic troubleshooting, crop planning, fertility, and crop protection recommendations.
*Personal and professional development:*
* Actively maintains up to date knowledge of current industry best practices and trends and communicates relevant information to others. * Adhere to standard operating procedures and safety protocols. * Communicate and maintain relationships with customers and support the Agro Manager in preparing and achieving budgeted goals. * Communicate clearly and frequently with the Agro manager to ensure inventory is in place to match demand and assist with the operations of inventory management. * Participate and lead projects within area of expertise. * Provide input into action planning within their functional area. * Understand and anticipate short-term and potentially mid-term, complex customer needs and conduct related needs assessments.
*Education and Experience*
* Degree/Diploma in Agriculture or the Sciences. * Must be eligible for acceptance into the Alberta Institute of Technology in a practice area that is applicable to the Neerlandia Co-op. * Certified Crop Advisor is an asset or the ability to obtain certification. * 1-3 years of agronomy in-field experience is an asset.
*Knowledge, Skills and Abilities*
* Ability to lift, push, and pull upwards of 50lbs. * Ability to enter and exit trucks, forklifts, and other equipment as required * Ability to operate a forklift (training and certification provided) * Knowledge of agronomy products including their properties and appropriate use * Provide support and encouragement as a team player/leader * Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written * Excellent interpersonal skills * Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks.
