Key Responsibilities:

• Promote safety culture through leadership, actions, and championing safety protocols. • Improve reliability and minimize downtime of equipment and facilities through preventative maintenance and repairs. • Coordinate maintenance and repair activities with Operations departments. • Manage maintenance costs to the plant budget. • Guide, supervise, and evaluate the performance of direct reports.

Accountable For:

• Creating a positive work environment and promoting safety, continuous improvement, and operational excellence. Cultivating a culture of constant compliance. • Regular communication with senior management and other departments regarding plant maintenance schedules and issues. • Managing and organizing maintenance and repair of pumps, grinders, mixers, and other machines. • Conducting routine machinery inspections for defects, safe operation, and protective gear use. • Monitoring inventory of spare parts, maintenance supplies, and equipment. Initiate reordering ahead of needs. • Preparing work schedules, assigning tasks, and ensuring attendance records comply with company policies. • Ensuring compliance and effectiveness of safety policies and procedures by developing and reviewing safety programs, such as Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and Job Safety Analysis (JSA). • Identifying process gaps and managing corrective action plans for maintenance and reliability. • Managing work order creation, tracking, filing, assigning team members, and verifying completion. • Coordinating periodic or scheduled equipment shutdowns with other departments. • Obtaining quotes and scoping out projects to handle RFQs. • Ensuring all maintenance records are accurate, maintained, and readily accessible • Assisting with preparing area and records for SQF audit readiness. • Assisting with fire, mock disaster, and product recall drills.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• Oversee day-to-day activities of direct reports in line with department goals. • Understand and consistently apply all applicable local and regulatory guidelines. • Communicate and establish clear goals and deliverables for direct reports and the department. • Adhere to approved budgets in meeting department goals. • Provide ongoing, constructive feedback for all assigned staff. • Handle employee discipline according to company policy.

Education, Experience, and Certifications:

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, mechanical engineering, or related field. • At least 5 years of supervisory experience. • At least 10 years of progressive experience in mining, light industrial, salt, or food industries, purchasing, and packaging. • Strong knowledge of bulk solids handling equipment in corrosive environments. • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint). • Proficient in SAP or other Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)

Preferred/Plus • Maintenance & Reliability experience • Prior DEQ, EPA, Virginia Energy, FDA, and SQF experience highly preferred. • Packaging plant experience highly preferred • PLC troubleshooting experience • Heavy mobile equipment experience • Familiar with principles of reliability-centered maintenance preferred. • Formal training in predictive maintenance technologies • Certified maintenance reliability professional (CMRP) certification • Experience with industrial equipment, instrumentation, and electrical systems.

Occasional weekends
