Are you a cybersecurity professional who enjoys analyzing complex threats, strengthening security controls, and protecting critical systems? As a Security Engineer, you will help maintain the cybersecurity technologies that safeguard our information systems, IT assets, intellectual property, facilities, personnel, and critical infrastructure.

In this role, you will use security tools, technical analysis, and risk management practices to identify vulnerabilities and potential threats. You will contribute to incident response activities, conduct advanced analysis of security events, and recommend secure approaches for infrastructure, software, hardware, applications, and related technologies. Your work will support the security and compliance of systems associated with business operations, network infrastructure, physical security, and the monitoring and control of the bulk electric system.

This position reports to Manager IT I.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement cybersecurity strategies and information security systems that protect organizational information and technology assets.

• Perform internal control-related responsibilities.

• Support security architecture activities and the application of least-privilege access principles.

• Monitor and analyze security systems, enterprise systems, network traffic, data files, and system logs to identify patterns, trends, vulnerabilities, and potential threats.

• Assist with investigations of security incidents, unauthorized access, and security breaches to identify system weaknesses, determine root causes, and recommend corrective actions.

• Conduct security analysis across networks, databases, operating systems, and internet and web operations.

• Perform password audits, vulnerability scans, virus management, intrusion detection, and other security testing and configuration activities.

• Operate cybersecurity tools and validate the secure operation of networks, databases, and operating systems.

• Evaluate security plans and controls to help maintain the integrity of new and existing business operations.

• Support security backup planning and system disaster recovery activities.

• Conduct risk assessments and provide security recommendations and briefings to IT security leadership.

• Support the administration, monitoring, and maintenance of physical security systems, including access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, and related technologies.

• Provide risk assessments and recommendations related to facilities, critical infrastructure, products, services, and security technologies.

• Collaborate with employees and technical partners across the organization, sharing knowledge and contributing to team objectives.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, IT security, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.

• At least three years of relevant technical experience or demonstrated knowledge of IT security concepts and best practices.

• Detailed knowledge of information security, compliance requirements, system life cycles, and computer technologies.

• Familiarity with common threat vectors, attack surfaces, and the methods used in internal and external attacks against new or existing vulnerabilities.

• Understanding of penetration testing practices and associated security toolsets.

• Familiarity with forensic analysis of computer and network systems.

• Strong analytical, diagnostic, organizational, and project management skills.

• Effective interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with employees at all levels of the organization.

• Ability to contribute to team objectives and openly share relevant knowledge, ideas, and information.

• Commitment to conducting work professionally and modeling positive workplace behavior.

• The expected offer for base compensation for this role is $84,000 - $116,000 annually. The actual compensation within the compensation range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
