About the Role
The HR Coordinator provides comprehensive support across recruitment, onboarding, employee support, benefits administration, leave management, compliance, and HR operations. This position serves as a key resource for candidates, employees, hiring managers, and HR team members while coordinating activities throughout the employee lifecycle.
From screening candidates and coordinating interviews to supporting onboarding, benefits, leave administration, and HR compliance, the HR Coordinator helps New Freedom attract, hire, support, and retain talented employees while delivering a positive and professional experience.

What You'll Be Responsible For
• Posting open requisitions, reviewing applications, screening candidates, coordinating interviews, and supporting hiring managers throughout the selection process
• Supporting job fairs, recruiting events, hiring campaigns, workforce outreach, and applicant tracking activities
• Coordinating pre-employment requirements, including background checks, drug screens, and credential verifications
• Managing onboarding activities, orientation support, employee communications, and new hire integration
• Processing promotions, transfers, status changes, terminations, and other employee lifecycle transactions
• Administering benefit enrollments, qualifying life events, benefit changes, terminations, and open enrollment support
• Supporting and assisting with FMLA, ADA, PWFA, workers' compensation, and other leave administration activities under HR leadership oversight
• Responding to employee questions regarding HR policies, procedures, benefits, and programs while escalating complex concerns appropriately
• Maintaining accurate HRIS records, emp loyee files, credentials, licenses, and compliance documentation
• Supporting audits, reporting, unemployment claims, employment verifications, employee engagement initiatives, and HR process improvements

• Screening, interviewing, and selection activities consistently help identify qualified talent
• New employees experience an organized, welcoming, and compliant onboarding process

• Benefits, leave, personnel transactions, and offboarding activities are processed accurately and efficiently
• Employee files, HRIS data, credentials, and compliance records remain complete and audit-ready
• Deadlines are met consistently despite changing priorities and a high-volume workload
• Sensitive employee and organizational information is protected with the highest level of confidentiality and professionalism

What We're Looking For
• High school diploma or GED
• Minimum two (2) years of experience in Human Resources, recruiting, talent acquisition, employee relations, or HR administration (Three (3) or more years of Human Resources experience preferred)
• Experience supporting recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, benefits, or HR operations
• Strong candidate screening, interviewing, communication, and customer service skills
• Working knowledge of employment law, HR compliance, onboarding, and employee lifecycle processes
• Knowledge of FMLA, ADA, PWFA, FLSA, benefits administration, employee relations, investigations, and HR best practices
• Strong communication, organization, time management, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills
• Advanced proficiency with HRIS platforms and Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams
• Strong adaptability, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to handle sensitive information with integrity, discretion, and confidentiality
• Experience in behavioral health, healthcare, corrections, or human services preferred
• Experience conducting candidate screenings and structured interviews preferred
• Experience partnering with hiring managers and supporting workforce planning initiatives preferred
• SHRM-CP, PHR, or another professional HR certification preferred

Environment + Physical Demands
This position works primarily in professional office, healthcare, behavioral health, and administrative environments. Some hybrid or remote flexibility may be available based on operational needs, and occasional local travel between facilities, recruiting events, and organizational meetings may be required.
