Primary Responsibilities
Process/Plant Support
• Become subject matter expert on all production processes, wastewater treatment and utilities within the facility
• Support data collection and analysis of plant metrics and develop new metrics where required to identify improvement opportunities in the following categories:
• Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS), Quality, Productivity, Efficiency, and Sustainability
• Utilize data collected through plant metrics to identify opportunities for improvement within the plant
• Scope, plan and implement improvement initiatives in the plant
• Troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing problems that prevent the site from attaining desired performance targets
• Support the Quality Team to investigate and resolve internal quality deficiencies and external customer complaints
• Lead corrective action and problem solving activities and implement actions as identified
• Support new product introductions and scale up initiatives, working with our Research and Development and Technology teams
• Support standard operating procedure and work order development and modifications
• Assist with developing and administering training on new and existing equipment and products for manufacturing personnel to ensure product/process consistency
• Support/Lead Process Safety initiatives, including management of change, pre-start up safety reviews, etc.
• Promote safety culture on the plant floor
Capital Project Planning and Execution
• Support the development of a 5 year capital project plan for the site
• Utilize Michelman's internal Project and Portfolio Management tool for project tracking and reporting
• Execute projects in accordance with Michelman's stage gate process
• Engage key stake holders in all phases of a project from design through start up, including Finance, Procurement, Production, Maintenance, EHS and Quality
• Responsible for end to end delivery of capital projects starting with developing project scope and justification through project start up
• Responsible for forecasting and managing project cost and schedule throughout the project cycle and providing updates as necessary to the project stake holders
• Responsible for reporting site Capital Project metrics within our management tool
• Responsible for ensuring all necessary project documentation is developed and saved to ensure all facility documentation accurately reflects plant condition
Other
• Must be able to climb stairs, stand for extended periods of time
• Must be able to wear required Personal Protective equipment (PPE) for extended periods of time
• On call 24x7 for emergency issues
• Must be able to accommodate working time as the situation or emergency dictates
• Perform related duties as assigned or as the situation dictates

• Willingness to work in a team environment
• Detailed knowledge of chemical processing equipment including pumps, mixers, valves, heat exchangers, boilers, cooling towers, and compressors
• Experience with process instrumentation and control systems
• Strong project management skills

• Excellent analytical, problem solving and organizational skills

Education and Experience
• 7+ years of Process or project engineering
• Degree in chemical or mechanical engineer is preferred
• Chemical manufacturing or similar background preferred
