Lutheran Life Villages' Pine Valley Assisted Living campus is looking for a dedicated and exceptionally talented Kitchen Manager!
Under the direction of the Dining Services Director, the Kitchen Manager assists in the management of food quality, directs and assists in the preparation and serving of regular meals and therapeutic diets, and maintains area and equipment in sanitary conditions.
Essential Job Functions
• Manage day-to-day operations by monitoring meals with special attention to temperatures, timeliness of meal, production and serving sanitation practices and resident satisfaction.
• Performs positions of cook and/or assistant as needed, flexibility to work am/pm shifts, weekends and holidays.
• Prepare food in accordance with designated recipes, often preparing foods from scratch.
• Management of staffing schedule and break times; adjust and monitor staff levels to provide adequate staffing for all shifts.
• Utilizing the new employee training programs, train new hires acclimating them to their position, working environment and LIFE expectations; responsible for cross training staff in all positions.
• Monitors dining staff's job specific task and cleaning lists; for accountability, provide staff counseling for unfinished or poorly executed assignments.
• Attend food committee meetings and/or resident council.
• Utilizing LLV's life values and mission to motivate and encourage staff to meet service, preparation, food quality and sanitation expectations.
• Monitors kitchen operations daily, ensure sanitation levels in all production areas meet and exceed Indiana State Board of Health requirements.
• Assists Dining Services Director in routine inventory counts of food and equipment.
• If applicable: Assists Nutrition Coordinator with clinical documentation as needed.
• Confers with Dining Services Director daily to keep informed of any issues.
• Performs all duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications
• Education/Training:
• Certified Dietary Manager/Certified Food Protection preferred
• Serv-Safe certified
• Experience:
• Three - Four years of food service experience preferred
• Two years' supervisory experience
• Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Ability to adhere to federal and state regulations.
• Ability to work independently while supporting collaborative environment with all departments.
• Customer service focused on displaying excellence in customer service techniques.
• Ability to organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
• Weekends, holidays, and extended shifts required.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Good communication skills.
