About this role

Position Summary

As a Public Area Attendant, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean and attractive public area appearance while providing attentive, courteous and efficient service to all guests.

Essential Functions

• Maintains supply levels in the public areas, toilet paper, and Kleenex.

• Maintains and cleans all public washrooms, checking twice each hour.

• Makes routine checks of all public areas to ensure cleanliness. Empties ash urns.

• Dust all tables, lamps, and ledges in all public areas and corridors.

• Maintains the cleanliness of all windows, glass, and doors in public areas.

• Checks guest elevators, clean carpets, and polishes metals as necessary. Maintains elevator tracks.

• Performs cleaning tasks in public areas, including vacuuming, sweeping, moping, and collecting garbage.

• Assists guests and other staff members as needed.

Skills and Abilities

• Understand the mission, vision, and goals of the hotel

• Must be able to prioritize and work efficiently with limited supervision

• Must be detail-oriented and able to multi-task efficiently

• Must be able to speak, understand, and communicate the primary language(s) used in the workplace

• Must possess excellent communication, follow-up, and organization

• Must have the ability to push, pull bend, squat, and lift regularly

• Use of PPE as needed for duty assigned and with the use of required tools and equipment

• Must be able to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed, and accuracy; prioritize, organize, and follow up

• Be a clear thinker, remaining calm and resolving problems using good judgment

• Follow directions thoroughly; understand a guest's service needs; work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team

Job Qualifications/Requirements

Education: High School diploma or GED equivalence

Experience: Prior experience in a similar role. Hotel experience preferred.

Additional: Will be required to work flexible scheduled shifts based on business needs. Must be able to work at both the Aloft and Fairfield Inn & Suites in Downtown Savannah, GA.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:

The minimum physical requirements for this position include but are not limited to:

· Flexible and long hours sometimes required

· Must be able to lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds

· Ability to hear, understand and communicate orally and in writing to communicate with staff, vendors, and guests a normal in-person and phone conversation

· Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time

· Ability to bend and twist, push and pull, stoop, and kneel
