About this role

Under the direction of the Dock Supervisor, the incumbent will follow the directions given and ensure the management of the team while offering quality services and having the interests of the company at heart. The incumbent must contribute through concrete actions to optimizing performance and organizational efficiency. Act as a (4 roles): leader, communicator and coach and responsible for the results of the team. The incumbent plans and ensures the proper functioning of operations, efficiency, quality of work, proper use of equipment, working climate to always improve customer satisfaction and contribute to the profitability of the business.

Responsibilities:

Manages the performance of the team and individuals who compose it with a view to achieving the objectives Establishes individual objectives with a view to achieving the objectives of his team Provides on a regular basis comments, suggestions, information (improvement and recognition feedback) and necessary training; Ensures health and safety prevention in his team. Maintains a healthy work climate; provide training for employees Plans priorities according to the needs of the company Receives and executes requests from terminals and other departments Plans the transport resources - find the necessary trailers for the loads; ensures the right equipment for LTL loads. Plans the equipment required for loading and unloading. Establishes the order of priorities for loading and unloading activities and assigns them to the team Supervises the security check of the guards for the refrigerated and heating units. Contributes to the design of the policies, programs and systems necessary to achieve internal objectives and to comply with legal and regulatory obligations (compliance) Brings to the attention of his superior any desirable changes to policies, programs and systems useful to the team. Proposes new policies, programs or systems that would increase the quality and efficiency of the company. Ensures that the information given by the systems is accurate and that the data is entered correctly. Keeps abreast of any legal or regulatory changes that may affect the objectives and working methods and proposes adjustments accordingly. Ensures that deadlines and quality are met; checks the quality of the work of the handlers on the dock; check the OS&D reports Respect the deadline for departure and delivery times. Ensures the identification and resolution of problems, in collaboration with the various operational executives concerned Creates follow-ups to identify the causes of problematic situations; identify trends. Correct the problem at the source with all the actors concerned. Communicates with other terminals, departments and all levels of management

Competencies: Effective time management Multi-tasking, Pro-active Excellent Organisational Skills Process oriented; must be physically fit Able to work in all weather conditions Ability to communicate effectively, including writing skills Computer proficient: MS Office (Excel & Outlook); SAP, WMS an asset Ability to Initiative and manage own time Accountability: Responsible for all cleaning associates Quality and Operations' schedule Active role in preventing unsanitary situations in the cross dock facility Experience / Exigencies: Minimum 3 years experience in related industry Post-secondary training and/or certification is considered an asset Ability to operate a forklift equipment and obtains a valid license
