What You'll Do

• Source, evaluate and procure heavy truck and equipment parts, components and materials

• Assist mechanics in identifying and ordering the correct parts to support timely repairs and maintenance

• Maintain accurate inventory records and inventory management systems

• Conduct cycle counts and monitor inventory levels to ensure parts availability

• Organize and maintain a clean, efficient and well-labeled parts department

• Verify receipts against purchase orders and resolve discrepancies

• Investigate supplier issues, backorders and alternative sourcing options

• Process warranty claims, core returns and parts returns within required timelines

• Utilize technical manuals, digital tools and product documentation to identify replacement parts

• Analyze inventory trends, supplier performance and return data to recommend cost-saving improvements

• Serve as a resource for inventory questions, looking up parts and shop communication

• Respond professionally to maintenance-related inquiries

• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency and reduce downtime

• Provide training, coaching or mentoring related to parts and inventory processes as needed

What We're Looking For

• Minimum 4 years of experience with heavy truck parts or parts room operations required

• Experience using procurement software and inventory management systems

• Knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

• Strong communication and problem-solving skills

• High school diploma or GED required

• Valid driver's license required

• Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification required

• Overhead crane certification or ability to obtain certification required

• Fleet maintenance or heavy equipment industry experience preferred

Primary location: Lansing, MI Regular schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. (30-minute lunch) Position type: Full-time, non-exempt Reports to: Maintenance manager
