About this role
The Assistant Director of Preschool & Kids Camps supports the Director in the daily operation and management of preschool and kids camp programs. This position plays a key leadership role in supervising staff, ensuring the safety and well-being of children, coordinating daily programming, communicating with families, and maintaining a fun, inclusive, and well-organized environment.
Duties & Responsibilities
• Direct and oversee daily preschool and camp operations and transitions.
• Lead and actively participate in children's activities.
• Supervise and support staff throughout the day.
• Address and resolve conflicts involving children or staff in a professional and appropriate manner.
• Respond effectively to changing situations in a fast-paced environment.
• Prepare staff, classrooms, facilities, equipment, and materials for daily programming.
• Maintain a safe, clean, organized, and welcoming program environment.
• Communicate effectively with children, families, staff, and leadership.
• Maintain accurate attendance, scheduling, and administrative records.
• Assist with recruiting, training, scheduling, and payroll processes.
• Manage program supplies, food, equipment, and materials.
• Conduct family tours and assist with enrollment and payment processes.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director.
Qualifications
• Previous experience working with children in a preschool, childcare, camp, education, or youth-program setting.
• Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
• CPR and First Aid certification, or the ability to obtain certification within the required timeframe.
• Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to remain calm, professional, and positive in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
• Ability to work collaboratively with children, families, staff, and leadership.
• Flexibility to work varying a schedule, including weekends, holidays, and early or late shifts.
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 75 pounds occasionally.
• While performing duties, must be able to crouch, bend, reach, stand, walk, and lift as necessary. Able to reach overhead and bend/stoop as needed.
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
