About this role

The position Regional Head of Road Transport – MEA is responsible for leading, developing and executing Crane Worldwide Logistics' road transport strategy across the Middle East and Africa.

The role provides regional leadership for road freight operations, network development, commercial growth, carrier strategy, service quality and operational governance. Working closely with country, operations and commercial leadership, the role will build scalable, compliant and commercially competitive road transport solutions that support existing customers and enable new business growth across the region.

Regional Road Transport Strategy & Leadership

• Develop and execute the MEA road transport strategy in alignment with regional and global business objectives

• Provide functional leadership and direction for road transport activities across the Middle East and Africa

• Build an integrated regional road transport network supporting domestic, cross-border, FTL, LTL, groupage and time-critical solutions

• Identify opportunities to expand network capability, geographic coverage and service offerings across the region

• Partner with country and regional leadership to establish clear priorities, standards and performance expectations

Operational Excellence & Network Management

• Provide regional oversight of road transport operations to ensure safe, reliable, efficient and high-quality service delivery

• Drive standardisation of operating procedures, controls and best practices across MEA road transport operations

• Monitor capacity, service performance and operational risks and lead corrective actions where required

• Support implementation and optimisation of transport management systems, processes and operational technology

• Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on service, productivity, cost and scalability.

Carrier & Supplier Strategy

• Develop and maintain a strong, compliant and commercially competitive network of road carriers and transport partners across MEA

• Lead regional carrier sourcing, qualification, onboarding and performance management in partnership with local teams

• Support negotiation of strategic carrier agreements, rates and service commitments

• Ensure appropriate due diligence, insurance, compliance and supplier governance requirements are maintained

• Monitor carrier capacity, market conditions and performance to ensure network resilience and continuity

Commercial Development & Customer Solutions

• Partner with Commercial and Operations teams to develop competitive road transport solutions for new and existing customers

• Provide subject-matter expertise for tenders, RFQs, pricing exercises and strategic customer opportunities

• Support customer presentations and solution design for complex domestic and cross-border road transport requirements

• Identify revenue growth opportunities and support development of regional road transport products and trade lanes

• Ensure proposed solutions are operationally viable, compliant and commercially sustainable

Financial & Performance Management

• Drive revenue growth, margin improvement and cost control across the regional road transport product

• Establish and monitor regional KPIs covering service, cost, profitability, carrier performance and operational quality

• Analyse market rates, capacity and cost trends and provide recommendations to regional leadership

• Support budgeting, forecasting and business planning for the MEA road transport product

• Identify underperformance and implement appropriate recovery and improvement plans

Compliance, Safety & Risk Management

• Ensure road transport activities comply with applicable transport, customs, trade, health and safety, security and regulatory requirements across the countries of operation

• Work with Compliance, Legal, Security and HSE stakeholders to manage regulatory and operational risk

• Promote a strong safety culture across employees, carriers and transport partners

• Ensure appropriate documentation, licences, permits and controls are maintained for domestic and cross-border movements

• Support investigations and corrective actions relating to service failures, incidents or compliance concerns

Stakeholder & Team Leadership

• Build strong relationships with regional and country leadership, Commercial, Operations, Finance and other functional teams

• Provide coaching, subject-matter expertise and functional support to road transport teams across MEA

• Promote collaboration and sharing of best practices across countries and the wider global network

• Represent the MEA road transport product in regional and global meetings, customer engagements and strategic projects

• Lead through influence across a geographically dispersed and culturally diverse organisation

Other

• Lead and support regional road transport initiatives, implementations and special projects

• Undertake regular travel across the Middle East and Africa and international travel where required

• Undertake additional duties and responsibilities as reasonably required by management

• Strong knowledge of road freight operations, carrier markets and cross-border transport within the Middle East and Africa

Technical Skills

• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint

• Experience with Transport Management Systems (TMS), logistics platforms and operational reporting tools

• Strong understanding of road transport pricing, network design, carrier management and performance analytics

Education And Direct Work Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, Transport Management or a related discipline preferred

• Minimum 10 years' progressive experience in road freight, transportation, logistics or supply chain, including significant leadership responsibility

• Demonstrable experience leading multi-country or regional road transport operations, preferably within the Middle East and Africa

• Strong experience in carrier procurement, network development, commercial solution design and operational performance management

• Experience working within an international freight forwarding or logistics organisation strongly preferred

Certifications And Licences

• Relevant professional certification in logistics, supply chain or transport management is advantageous.

• Valid driving licence.
