Scope of Position

This curious and strategic individual, as part of the Corporate Marketing team, will support the development of a competitive intelligence and market benchmarking framework for Watts. The intern will conduct market research, analyze competitive positioning, identify industry trends, and help establish sustainable processes that inform strategic business and marketing decisions.

This position reports to Marketing. This role is hybrid and is based in N Andover, MA

Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Partner with Product Management and Marketing teams to organize products into meaningful product families and define competitive benchmarking frameworks.

• Develop competitive matrices that identify competitors, market positioning, and strategic relevance across key end-market verticals.

• Research and develop competitor profiles, including product portfolios, pricing strategies, distribution channels, and market positioning.

• Benchmark Watts products against competitor offerings based on specifications, pricing, features, and messaging.

• Conduct market research to identify industry trends, growth opportunities, customer needs, technology developments, and regulatory changes.

• Gather information from industry publications, market reports, competitor websites, trade sources, agency representatives, and internal stakeholders.

• Analyze findings and prepare executive-ready reports, presentations, and strategic recommendations.

• Assist in developing a repeatable competitive monitoring process, including reporting templates, tracking mechanisms, information sources, and update schedules.

• Collaborate with Product Management, Sales, Marketing, Engineering, and agency partners to validate findings and support strategic initiatives.

• Present research findings and recommendations to business stakeholders and leadership teams.

• Assume responsibility for other projects and duties as assigned by the Senior Manager of Strategic Marketing Research, Business Intelligence & Analytics or Company management.

• Responsibility directly tied to Watts Value (Integrity, Accountability, Continuous Improvement, Transparency)

Required Qualifications

• Current student (senior status) Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in marketing, Business Administration, Economics, Strategy, Market Research, or a related field.

• Strong research, analytical, and critical-thinking skills.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.

• Ability to synthesize large amounts of information into concise business insights and recommendations.

• Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.

• Ability to work independently and manage multiple concurrent projects.

• Demonstrated commitment to integrity and respect in interactions with others, fostering a positive and inclusive work environment.

• Strong sense of accountability, taking ownership of tasks and following through on commitments.

• Understanding of and adherence to applicable laws, codes, policies, regulations, and safety practices and procedures, as applicable.

• Must successfully establish employment eligibility and satisfactorily complete background checks, including required pre-employment testing as a condition of employment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Coursework or prior experience in competitive intelligence, market research, strategic marketing, business strategy, or industry analysis.

• Prior internship or project experience involving benchmarking, secondary research, or stakeholder interviews.

• Familiarity with B2B, industrial manufacturing, or channel/distribution business models.

• Technical or engineering background helpful for product specification comparisons.

Working Conditions While performing the job duties, you will be working in an office environment. You will be required to work in the office at the N Andover, MA location three days per week (Monday – Wednesday) and can work remotely two days per week (Thursday and Friday). Physical Requirements: Specific physical abilities required for this position include, but are not limited to:

• Ability to remain seated at a desk or workstation for extended periods.

• Ability to physically move around the office, organize or transport files, packages, or other office-related materials.

• Ability to read documents, use a computer, and perform data entry tasks.

• Ability to communicate clearly with management and coworkers, particularly in meetings or phone calls.

• Ability to operate standard office equipment such as computers, printers, phones, and copiers

• Ability to stand for long periods of time.

• Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds.

• Ability to push and pull up to 20 pounds.

• Ability to physically move around manufacturing floor.

• Ability to read documents and communicate clearly with management and coworkers.

• Ability to wear personal protective equipment, which may include, but is not limited to, safety shoes, hearing protection, and safety glasses.

Pay Range: $21-23 per hour

The expected hourly range for this position is $21-23 per hour. Actual compensation will be dependent upon individual skills, experience, qualifications, and applicable law.
