About this role
Professor Zhihao Zhang is looking for undergraduate and graduate research assistants to work on projects that involve large language models, human decision-making, and quantitative modeling of choice behavior.
Qualifications Math and Statistics -- Strong foundation in statistics and probability. Good intuition for probabilistic reasoning and geometry. Programming -- Proficiency in Python. Some experience with pandas and Git. Experience with open-source LLMs or numerical optimization is a plus. General -- Sensitive to subtle conceptual distinctions and comfortable thinking carefully about what an empirical result actually means. Curiosity about LLMs, human behavior, decision-making, or related topics is especially welcome. Strong work ethics and good communication skills are mandatory.

Hourly pay rate depends on level of education. Students pursing a:
• 4-year degree: $16.00/hour
• MA/MS Degree: $22.00/hour
• Ph.D. Degree: $25/hour
Positions offers 10 hours/week. This position is ONLY open to UVA students.
