Our people are at the heart of everything we do, and we’re looking for someone who shares that same passion for excellence and teamwork.

Your Role: Building Materials Lead

You’ll oversee the day-to-day flow of lumber and materials through our Ryan Road yard and warehouse, including inventory, shipping and receiving, quality, and work priorities. You’ll work closely with Production, Sales, Shipping, Purchasing, and Operations to make sure materials are where they need to be and customer and production commitments stay on track.

This is also a hands-on leadership role. You’ll provide direction, training, and support to the Building Materials team while creating an environment built around safety, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

What You’ll Do:

• Lead the day-to-day operations of the Building Materials department and help keep work organized, efficient, and on schedule

• Coordinate lumber and material processing based on production schedules and customer requirements

• Assign daily work, monitor workloads, and ensure appropriate team coverage

• Lead, train, mentor, and support Building Materials team members

• Oversee inventory accuracy, organization, and material locations within the Ryan Road facility

• Coordinate and participate in monthly and year-end inventory counts and investigate discrepancies

• Oversee incoming lumber and material deliveries, ensuring quantities and quality match purchase orders

• Work closely with Shipping to ensure orders are completed accurately and customer commitments are met

• Review work orders and follow up with internal teams when information or shipping details need clarification

• Maintain accurate shipping and receiving documentation, including Bills of Lading and delivery receipts

• Monitor quality standards and address material or product discrepancies

• Promote safe work practices, participate in inspections and safety meetings, and proactively address hazards

• Identify opportunities to improve workflow, reduce costs, strengthen inventory control, and make our processes better

• Help create a positive, accountable team environment where people take pride in their work

What You Bring:

• Previous experience in lumber, building materials, manufacturing, warehousing, or a related operational environment

• Leadership or people management experience is an asset

• Strong organization skills and the ability to coordinate multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

• Clear communication skills and the confidence to work across different teams and departments

• A hands-on leadership style with the ability to coach, train, and support others

• Strong attention to detail, particularly when it comes to inventory, quality, and documentation

• A safety-first mindset and understanding of safe work practices

• Experience operating a forklift and a valid operator’s permit is an asset

• A valid Class 5 driver’s licence and the ability to travel between Tech-Wood locations

• The ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and lift up to 50 lbs unaided

What We Bring:

• Competitive compensation and bonus opportunities

• Group benefits

• HSA Allowance

• Paid vacation time

• Free on-site parking

• Company team-building events

• A fast-paced, collaborative environment where people support each other and take pride in their work

• A team that is invested in YOU – professionally and personally
