Help protect British Columbia’s irreplaceable biodiversity. The Nature Trust of British Columbia (NTBC) seeks to diversify its Board and Board Committees to help guide the future of biodiversity conservation in British Columbia.
Why NTBC?
NTBC is a leading non-profit land conservation organization dedicated to conserving BC’s biodiversity through securement, restoration, and management of ecologically significant lands. Since 1971, we have secured over 180,000 acres of ecologically significant land. The treasured landscapes we have protected forever include the Xwésam (Salmon) River on Vancouver Island, Boundary Bay in the Lower Mainland, White Lake Basin in the Okanagan, and the 10,000-acre Hoodoos conservation complex in the Kootenays.
NTBC is committed to building a board that reflects the breadth and diversity of BC. The foundation of our Board are business and science leaders from across BC.
About the Board
NTBC’s Board of Directors is a volunteer governance Board. Supporting the Board are several Committees, including Audit and Finance, Governance, Fundraising, and Biodiversity & Land Management. The Board provides strategic oversight and ensures that the organization remains effective, financially sound, and true to its conservation mission.
Our Board is looking to broaden our skills and experience in:

• Policy and advocacy

• Human Resources
• Legal and compliance
• Leadership development
• Community Engagement
• Strategic Planning
• Indigenous Leadership
Geographic representation is important to further our biodiversity goals in the Kootenays, North and Central Interior, South Okanagan, Greater Vancouver, Vancouver Island and Gulf Islands.
NTBC is currently looking to add:
• 2 Board members (June 2027)
• Audit, Finance and Investment Committee members
• Indigenous Relationships Committee members
Commitment
The Board holds two remote and two in person meetings a year (Vancouver). Ad hoc remote meetings may be scheduled throughout the year. Each Board member is also asked to join a Board Committee which meets virtually 4 times per year. Directors are asked to attend fundraising events in their area.
Board members are appointed annually at the June Annual General Meeting; Directors are eligible for a maximum of eight, one-year terms.
Committee members may be appointed as non-Director members. This is a great way to get acquainted with the organization and create a stepping stone to Board membership.

We welcome expressions of interest from leaders who are passionate about conserving BC’s natural habitats through protection, restoration, and management. We especially encourage applications from:

• Professionals that live or work in the Kootenays
Please submit a brief bio/letter identifying the relevant skills that you bring to the Board, plus a professional bio or resume.
Applications will be reviewed through November 2026, with top candidates being contacted by December 2026 to begin the interview process. Applicants will be kept in the pipeline for future Board recruitment.
