Why Mint Innovation
At Mint Innovation, we pioneer clean technologies that recover valuable metals from complex waste streams to help restore our planet. Our proprietary low-carbon technology recovers critical and valuable metals from printed circuit boards in electronic waste and returns them to local economies and supply chains. This technology has been commercialised in Australia, and building our second facility in the United States. Our Analytics team is what keeps that technology improving: characterising process samples, refining recovery methods and building the data systems the rest of the business relies on to make decisions.
The Role
As our Analytics Intern, you'll work in our Research, Development and Laboratory Services team, characterising process samples using analytical techniques like spectroscopy, and helping refine how we track mass balance and batch-level chemistry data across the business. Mentored by our Analytical Scientist and Lab Manager, you'll get hands-on exposure to instrument operation and troubleshooting, and help turn raw lab data into something the wider R&D team can actually act on.
This paid internship is an amazing opportunity for an enthusiastic, curious, and driven student to work alongside a supportive and welcoming team on a full-time basis (40 hours per week) for 10 weeks. Ideally, we are looking at a start date between mid November – early December 2026.
The ideal candidate will have a solid grounding in analytical chemistry techniques and genuine interest in how data quality drives process improvement in a hydrometallurgical setting. Strong attention to detail and comfort working with structured data (Excel or lab information systems) is essential, alongside a motivation for sustainability and resource recovery.
To be eligible for these internships, you must:
• Be studying, or have recently completed, an undergraduate or postgraduate degree or qualification at NZQA level 6–10. If study has been completed, the closing date of your final semester should be less than 12 months ago.
• Be studying science New Zealand tertiary education institute.
• Be legally permitted to work in New Zealand.
• Not have been previously employed by Mint unless in a part-time or temporary role.
• Not have undertaken more than two Experience Grant internships with Mint.
