About this role

The General Manager is the the captain of the "Mothership" here at MAP (our affectionate nickname for our tasting room). This role is responsible for the overall leadership in our taproom, including financial performance, operational excellence, and the employee experience across the tasting room team - both FOH and our Kitchen crew. Everyday is an adventure when you oversee a team of approximately 50 employees across departments, all while ensuring that the business is consistently delivering an exceptional guest experience, is maintaining strong financial performance, is operating with efficiency, is holding high standards for product quality, and is providing an engaging and positive working environment for our team. DAY TO DAY DUTIES AND EXPECTATIONS

• Maintain a good grasp on the Tasting Room's day-to-day operations

• actively manage the floor 2x/week, including some weekends

• provide hands-on leadership during service

• maintain high standards for service, food quality, beer quality, cleanliness, efficiency, etc.

• create and maintain schedules for tasting room and kitchen

• coordinate with Kitchen Manager regularly

• ensure beer and food are presented to guests consistently

• Actively lead the FOH, BOH, and Tasting Room Management Teams

• directly supervise AGM, Kitchen Manager, Asst. KM, and all Floor Managers

• conduct ongoing reviews

• establish clear expectations and performance standards

• investigate and address employee concerns, complaints, and conflicts

• ensure managers are equipped with the tools, information, and resources necessary to successfully lead their teams

• facilitate collaboration between FOH and BOH

• Oversee Guest Experience

• establish and maintain clear service standards throughout the tasting room

• monitor guest experience and identify opportunities for improvement

• coach managers and employees on effective guest communication

• develope strategies to improve guest satisfaction

• Manage Facilities Maintenance and Safety Standards

• coordinate routine and emergency maintenance for appliances, equipment, and facilities

• develop and maintain procedures for emergency situations and operational disruptions

• track maintenace requests with MAP's maintenance software

• ensure required employee certifications and trainings remain current

• Administrative and Cross-Departmental Responsibilities

• some HR duties include helping maintain hiring paperwork, auditing time punches, approving time sheets, and orientations

• maintaining communication with all departments (why are there always so many emails)

• communicate operational needs and significant issues to higher leadership

• lead monthly staff meetings

HELPFUL EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE FOR YOU TO HAVE IF YOU'D LIKE TO APPLY FOR THIS JOB:

• Restaurant managing experience required, 3+ years

• Managing a team of 20+ people preferred

• Brewery experience preferred

• Comfortable with restaurant POS systems required, Toast experience preferred

• Familiarity with draught beer systems is helpful

• Serve-Safe Manager Certification Required (or must be able to get within 60 days of hire)

• Montana Alcohol Server Certification Required (or must be able to get within 30 days of hire)

• Cicerone Certified Beer Server preferred

• Candidate must be over 21 years old.

OTHER HELPFUL MINDSETS AND SKILLS NEEDED:

• The ability to think creatively and quickly when problems arise

• A willingness to help the team with even the most menial tasks

• Detail oriented and organized

• A desire to work with people - between staff and guests, it's a lot of people-forward time

• Able to physically lift 100+ pounds (using appropriate techniques and tools, of course!)

• Able to regularly twist, turn, kneel, climb, stoop, bend, crawl, lift, and carry supplies... this is a physical job!

• Able to comply and enforce all health, safety, and personal hygiene policies and standards

WHAT ELSE YOU NEED TO KNOW:

• This is a salaried role, starting at $60k/year, and the expectation of working around 40 hours per week. Shifts will include some nights and weekends

• PTO is generous and flexible
