About this role
At David Nice Builders, we craft construction masterpieces through integrity, enduring relationships, and passionate people. Join our growing team and help us deliver exceptional civil construction projects that exceed client expectations!
Position Overview
We're hiring a Civil Construction Project Manager to own the full lifecycle of site and civil construction projects from pre-construction planning through closeout. This is a hands-on, portfolio-management role that sits at the intersection of field operations, client relationships, and commercial execution.
Civil construction rewards people who are organized, decisive, and comfortable managing complexity across multiple fronts simultaneously. Schedules shift, priorities compete, and the best PMs in this environment are the ones who stay ahead of the work rather than reacting to it. If you bring strong technical instincts, genuine leadership capability, and the discipline to drive projects to completion without losing sight of budget, schedule, or relationships, we want to hear from you.
What You'll Do
Pre-Construction:
• Participate actively in pre-construction planning, estimating, and client-required meetings.
• Offer project-specific insights on potential scopes, suppliers, and risks before work begins.
• Study and fully understand client contracts, drawings, and specifications before mobilization.
Project Start-Up and Administration:
• Establish project administrative organization and maintain all project records and correspondence.
• Confirm budget, schedule, and scope alignment across the project team at startup.
• Manage and direct the Project Management Assistant and site personnel to ensure efficient and productive operations from day one.
Schedule and Budget Management:
• Draft and maintain weekly three-week lookahead schedules and update master schedules monthly.
• Monitor project budgets continuously, prepare cost and progress tracking reports for management, and submit budget estimates for project changes promptly.
• Oversee contract production, change orders, submittals, and procurement to keep projects on time and within budget.
Client and Stakeholder Relations:
• Develop and maintain positive working relationships with clients, engineering firms, local authorities, and subcontractors throughout the project lifecycle.
• Serve as the primary liaison between leadership, clients, and the project team, fostering lasting relationships that reflect the company's core values.
Safety and Compliance:
• Ensure full adherence to safety, state, and local regulations on every project.
• Provide active safety leadership on site, not just compliance oversight.
Financial Coordination and Closeout:
• Work with AP/AR to facilitate subcontractor and supplier payments and client billings.
• Oversee project closeout processes including company-wide closeout tracking to ensure timely and complete delivery.
What We're Looking For
• 5 or more years of project management experience in civil or site construction.
• A bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred, not required for candidates with strong field and PM experience.
• Strong working knowledge of construction contracts, civil drawings, specifications, and local, state, and federal safety regulations.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced environment while maintaining composure and commercial discipline.
• Proficiency with project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with clients, subcontractors, engineers, and internal teams.
• A self-starter who manages priorities independently and holds themselves and their team accountable for outcomes.
You Might Be a Great Fit If You Are:
• An experienced civil or site construction PM ready to join a company with a strong reputation and a growing project portfolio.
• A construction PM from an adjacent discipline who brings strong organizational and commercial instincts and is ready to apply them in a civil environment.
• An assistant PM or field engineer who has been managing projects in everything but title and is ready to step into full ownership.
• Someone who genuinely takes pride in delivering projects on time, within budget, and with relationships intact at the end.
Why Join Us?
