Job summary
The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated Specialty Doctor to join our well-established and supportive Urology team, based at Rotherham Hospital.
Our Urology department provides a comprehensive service across the major sub-specialties, including general urology, BPH surgery (Rezum, HoLEP and TURP), female urology, andrology, stone disease (including PCNL), upper tract diagnostics and therapeutics, and both cancer and non-cancer MDT provision. Radical pelvic cancer surgery is managed in partnership with Sheffield Teaching Hospitals, while TRFT delivers integrated inpatient and outpatient care and follow-up for prostate and bladder cancer patients.
You will join a team of 5 consultants, 2 specialty doctors, and a strong training complement (2 Senior Clinical Fellows, a Core Surgical Trainee and 2 Foundation Trainees), supported by 2 Advanced Nurse Specialists, 4 Cancer Nurse Specialists and a dedicated Andrology Cancer Nurse Specialist.
We are looking for a motivated and adaptable clinician with sound general urology knowledge and practical experience across ward-based, outpatient and theatre settings, able to work under consultant supervision while exercising sound clinical judgement. Flexibility to support the wider needs of the department including outpatient clinics, theatre lists, MDT meetings and emergency cover is essential.

Provide day-to-day care for urology in-patients and outpatient clinics, including ward rounds, post-operative review and one-stop/rapid access clinics, under consultant supervisionParticipate in the out-of-hours/resident on-call rota alongside medical colleaguesSupport the supervision and training of junior colleagues, including Foundation and Core Surgical TraineesEngage in audit, clinical governance and continuing professional developmentParticipate in elective and emergency theatre lists, performing and assisting with procedures appropriate to competency and experience

Clinical responsibilities:
Manage elective and emergency admissions including investigations and discharge co-ordinationParticipate in ward rounds to ensure patient care and exposure to emergency urological casesAttend timetabled sessions in consultant supervised theatres and diagnostic investigations to enhance skills and educationParticipate in outpatient clinics under consultant supervision including diagnostic clinics such as cystoscopy sessionsProvide cover for urology patients on the Acute Surgical Unit as timetabledProvide non-resident out of hours on call cover as part of a 1:5 RotaProvide on-site weekend cover on a 1:5 basis, 08:00-16:00 hours

Qualifications Essential
