About this role

Job summary

Joining the Medical Staffing Team as Medical Workforce Adviser will offer you the opportunity to gain specialist knowledge and experience in a HR field that is unique to the NHS.

You will provide specialist medical staffing advice and support across the Trust, ensuring compliance with national terms and conditions of service, NHS employment legislation and medical workforce best practice.

Working within a team of over 21 you will have access to options to work flexibly on a pattern of a "nine day fortnight" and will have the ability to work from home on around 1/3rd of your working shifts.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will play a key role in the development, review and management of Resident Doctor rotas and workforce plans, ensuring compliance with the Resident Doctor Contract, Working Time Regulations and NHS England requirements.

The post holder with work to support the Trust implementation of national medical workforce initiatives such as the Resident Doctor 10-point plan and Resident Doctor Contract changes.

The role will also support the Guardian of Safe Working Hours by coordinating and monitoring exception reporting processes, analysing trends, supporting rota compliance reviews and contributing to improvements in safe working practices.

All roles in the Trust include a mandatory 12-week training period. Therefore, successful candidates are expected to have the Right to Work for a period of at least 6 months from the proposed start date. Immigration and Right to Work status will be discussed with successful candidates at conditional offer. CUH will not offer sponsorship to candidates that have applied for a fee waiver.

All appointments with a start date on or after 1 October will be subject to a 12-week probationary period. This provides a structured and supportive period to help you settle into your role, with regular reviews and feedback.

Qualifications Essential

Educated to degree level or NVQ level 4 or equivalent professional experience Strong numeracy and literacy skills Evidence of continuing personal and professional development

Experience Essential

Experience of working in an operational team in a busy office environment Previous experience working within an NHS workforce, HR or Medical Staffing environment Experience of rota management and workforce planning Experience of advising managers on employment related matters Experience of meeting strict deadlines and managing competing priorities Prioritising, planning and organising own tasks and working within guidelines Experience of IT packages including Microsoft office
