Job summary

Join Our Bowel Cancer Screening Team

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Bowel Cancer Screening Team, based at the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading, on a full-time basis.

The role supports the bowel cancer screening programme across Berkshire, working with patients from both East and West Berkshire.

We are looking for an approachable, patient-focused and organised team player who is able to manage a varied workload, multitask effectively and work well as part of a busy team.

If you enjoy working in a role that involves liaising with patients, clinical staff and colleagues, while also using your own initiative and excellent organisational skills, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

You will play an important role in supporting the delivery of a high-quality screening service and helping to provide a positive experience for our patients.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for using the Bowel Cancer System to transfer referrals from the Guildford Hub onto the Patient Management System.

Ability to work on own initiative

Telephone contact with patients and outside organisations.

Liaise with Screening Practitioners and provide administrative support.

Qualifications Essential

Good education to GCSE standard or equivalent to reflect numeracy and literacy skills

Experience Essential

Experience of working in a hospital or busy office environment Significant experience in difficult customer facing situations Experience of working to exacting deadlines

Desirable

Previous use of hospital patient administration system

Skills & knowledge Essential

Good interpersonal skills Ability to communicate appropriately and professionally to patients, staff/stakeholders at different levels. Ability to prioritise, use own initiative and make decisions Able to make non routine decisions Awareness of the data protection act Knowledge of NHS targets and/or willingness to learn Ability to communicate appropriately and professionally to patients, staff/stakeholders at different levels
