About this role

Job summary

Join our Information Governance (IG) Team at Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust and help us protect information, support colleagues and maintain high standards of information governance across the organisation.

As an IG Advisor, you will provide practical advice and support to staff, helping them understand and apply information governance requirements in their day-to-day work. You will contribute to a culture where information is handled safely, lawfully and responsibly, supporting the delivery of high-quality care.

This is a varied role offering the opportunity to:

Provide advice on information governance and data protection.

Work with colleagues and partner organisations on IG matters.

Support the Trust's annual Data Security and Protection Toolkit submission.

Promote good information governance practice across the organisation.

Contribute to audits and the review of information governance incidents.

You will work under the guidance of the Deputy Head of Information Governance and collaborate with colleagues across the Trust.

Main duties of the job

As an IG Advisor, you will contribute to the effective management and continuous improvement of information governance across the Trust.

Key responsibilities include:

Providing clear, practical advice and support to staff on information governance requirements.

Processing requests for information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, Environmental Information Regulations and Data Protection legislation, including Data Subject Access Requests.

Liaising and collaborating with partner organisations on information governance matters.

Raising awareness and promoting good information governance practices across the organisation.

Working with the Deputy Head of Information Governance to gather evidence and assurance for the Trust Board in support of the annual Data Security and Protection Toolkit submission.

Carrying out data protection audits and supporting the identification of areas for improvement.

Undertaking the initial review and investigation of information governance incidents reported through the Trust's internal reporting system.

Maintaining accurate records and contributing to clear, timely reporting and assurance.

The role requires sound judgement, attention to detail and the ability to communicate information clearly with colleagues at different levels.

Person Specification

Education/ Qualification Essential

Degree level education or previous relevant experience in an Information Governance related field ISEB qualification in FOI and /or DPA or equivalent. Evidence of recent and ongoing CPD / learning in DPA / FOI / Information Governance

Desirable

GDPR Practitioner Certificate

Experience Essential

Specialist expertise in Freedom of Information Act 2000 legislation Expertise in Data Protection Act 2018 and GDPR legislation Understanding of complex public sector organisation and effective partnership working An understanding of NHS legislation, governance frameworks and standards Understanding and knowledge of records management Understanding and knowledge of confidentiality guidance (Caldicott) Experience of working within the NHS Experience of handling and responding to FOI and Data Protection queries Experience of successfully engaging and working with a range of staff and members of the public. Previous experience of working in a public facing team within the healthcare sector o Experience of planning and delivering training sessions to multidisciplinary groups

Desirable

Familiarity with incident reporting and investigation methods Project Management qualification Experience of use of clinical systems for records extraction and auditing.
