We have an exciting opportunity for a Healthcare Assistant to join the primary care team at HMP Garth. HMP Garth is a high security Category B male prison, housing around 792 men serving long term and indeterminate sentences. Practice Plus Group provides primary care and substance misuse services across eleven wings, clinic areas, inpatient facilities, and reception services This is a rewarding opportunity to work within primary care, while gaining exposure to a wider multidisciplinary team in a unique and supportive healthcare environment. This is a great role in which you really can make a difference whilst growing your own skills - we are happy to support and train you in venepuncture, ECGs, wound care etc - we just need you to have a passion for delivering exceptional care! Salary £25,557 - £29,723 per annum

Hours

This is a full time role, working 37.5 hours per week. We have a set 8 week rolling rota: Week 1 - Monday, Tuesday, Saturday, Sunday Week 2 - Wednesday, Thursday, Friday Shifts are 07:30 - 19:45 / 19:45 - 07:30 Please note, this role requires flexibility and will include unsociable hours, such as evenings, weekends, and night shifts where applicable. Candidates are required to have a Legal right to work in the UK and due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks

Main duties of the job

You will support a range of clinical and operational activities, including:

Running and supporting healthcare clinics (bloods, observations, ECGs, NHS Health Checks) Working in reception (Early Days in Custody), carrying out basic health assessments and bloodborne virus screening Supporting health promotion and wellbeing initiatives Acting as pharmacy second checker and assisting with medication rounds Working collaboratively with nurses, GPs, and wider healthcare professionals If you are interested in career development, we have a wide range of opportunities for you to develop your skills and experience, which include both internal and external options for development and learning.

What Were Looking For:

Previous care experience (community, hospital, or similar healthcare setting) Care Certificate and/or NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care Clinical skills such as bloods (venepuncture) are desirable but not essential A resilient, proactive, and enthusiastic approach to patient care Ability to work effectively in a secure and fastpaced environment Secure environments are one of the most challenging, yet rewarding places for healthcare professionals to work.
