Job summary
We are seeking a talented, passionate and committed Clinical or Counselling Psychologist to join our friendly and ambitious multidisciplinary Community Eating Disorders Service. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering specialist psychological care and supporting the implementation of our First Episode Rapid Early Intervention for Eating Disorders (FREED) pathway. Alongside managing a varied clinical caseload, you will contribute to supervision, training and service development, helping to support trainee psychologists and junior colleagues. The post offers an excellent opportunity for a psychologist looking to consolidate specialist expertise in eating disorders while developing leadership skills within a highly supportive team committed to innovation, collaboration and excellent patient care
Main duties of the job
In this role, you will provide highly specialist assessment and evidence-based psychological treatment for individuals experiencing eating disorders, making post-qualification experience in this field essential. You will work with people from diverse cultural backgrounds and across different age groups, demonstrating a commitment to equity, inclusion and improving access to services for all. Alongside direct clinical work, you will contribute to service development, quality improvement, audit and research activities to help shape and enhance the care we provide. You will also offer supervision, training and consultation to colleagues within and beyond the service, promoting psychological understanding of eating disorders and supporting the development of clinical skills across teams. We are looking for a collaborative, compassionate and motivated psychologist who is passionate about delivering high-quality care and contributing to a thriving multidisciplinary service.

Qualifications Essential
Full registration with the Health Professionals Council Doctorate in Clinical or Counselling Psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) or Accredited CBT therapist PLUS post- graduate qualification (diploma equivalent) in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy for Eating Disorders (CBT-ED) Training in clinical supervision for Doctoral, and equivalent, trainees
Desirable
Completion of relevant of post-doctoral training/qualifications in relevant areas
Experience Essential
Experience working as a qualified psychologist for a minimum of 18 months, including at least one year's post qualification experience as a qualified psychologist within a setting that provides direct clinical experience with eating disorders. Experience of teaching, training and supervision. Experience of having facilitated/co-facilitated psychological therapy groups Experience of practicing clinically with service users from a range of cultural backgrounds and experience working with interpreters.
Desirable
Experience in delivering DBT. Experience undertaking quality improvement projects/audits/service development projects
Knowledge Essential
Specialist theoretical and practical knowledge of psychology, including eating disorders and personality disorders Able to provide and receive highly complex, highly sensitive or highly contentious information, where there are significant barriers to acceptance which need to be overcome using the highest level of interpersonal and communication skills such as would be required when communicating in a hostile, antagonistic or highly emotive atmosphere Able to make judgements involving complex facts or situations, which require the evaluation of a range of options (e.g. the assessment of specialist clinical conditions and the determination of treatment options) Able to plan, prioritise and organise own service user caseload, treatment programmes involving other staff, and other aspects of the work such as research activity Able to use database, word processing and test administration/scoring software
