Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a committed individual to join the Children's Speech and Language Therapy service and be part of Derbyshire Community Health Services. The post is with the team based in Clay Cross at Clay Cross Hospital.
The post is for 22.5 hours a week, typically worked as 3 days of 7.5 hours Monday-Friday.
We are a large and dynamic Speech and Language Therapy service of around 100 staff working across all service areas in Derbyshire.
Main duties of the job
As a member of our team you will be working in a service with a well established reputation for delivering a patient centred approach.
The post will provide support to children with speech, language and communication needs.
You will be delivering programmes of intervention to children in early years settings, schools, patient homes and through telehealth.
You will be supervised by SLTs, with additional support from a Team Leader and opportunities for peer support from colleagues across Bands 3 to 7
If you can demonstrate good communication skills, have the ability to deliver competent, evidence based clinical care we want to hear from you.
As a clinical employee it will be your responsibility to ensure that your behaviour and values reflect those set out in the DCHS Way.
Previous experience of working with children with speech, language and communication needs is essential.
You will need to be able to travel to appointments around North Derbyshire from the Clay Cross base.

Qualifications and Experience Essential
Experience of working with children in an education setting GCSE English Language/or equivalent NVQ- level 3 or relevant qualification Relevant experience of working with a range of speech, language and communication needs
Desirable
Experience of working as a SLT assistant or working under direction of a SLT delivering speech/language programmes Experience of supporting AAC approaches Experience of working with other client groups with communication difficulties
Skills and Aptitude Essential
Good communication skills - written and verbal Able to work under direction Good observation skills Good IT skills
Desirable
Fluent in another community language (eg BSL Coaching skills.
Personal Qualities Essential
Able to travel independently across the locality and have access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes, between base and community settings for appointments, Ability to work as part of MDT and multi-agency teams Organised Adaptable to change
