Job summary
Great Massingham and Docking Surgeries is looking to welcome a qualified dispenser into our busy practice, who will play a full and active role as part of the practice multi-disciplinary team. This role is offered on a full or part-time basis, or job share between the hours of 7.30am to 6.30pm, Monday to Friday. You may be required to work at both sites.
As a valued member of our dispensary team, you will help ensure that our patients get the best possible service every time they visit our surgeries. Through your passion to deliver a great healthcare service, you will play an important role in your local community.
Your main responsibility will be to assist with the day to day running of the dispensary to maintain excellent service to patients, which will be an invaluable contribution to the practices.
Main duties of the job
Process all relevant prescriptions and repeat prescriptions as authorised by GPs and prescribing nurses where appropriate, in accordance with the good practice principles of the Dispensing Services Quality Scheme; Ensure that all medicines and appliances dispensed are checked against the prescription and whenever there is doubt about the appropriateness of the item, or about the dose or labelling instructions, to check with the authorising doctor or duty doctor; Collect all due prescription charges and ensure that the patient declaration on the reverse of the FP10 is duly filled in and signed by the patient; Process dossette boxes; Manage ordering stock and stock control; Answer and deal with dispensary phone enquiries; Monitor patients exemption status; Sort and dispose of unwanted/returned medication; Any other duties to assist in the smooth day to day running of the dispensary and surgery as directed by the either the dispensary manager or practice manager.

We are a small rural practice in a lovely village with a branch practice near the coast. We are a hard-working and close knit team and often all pull together to help each other out at busy times.

Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
At least a Diploma Level 2/3 Dispensary or equivalent
Desirable
Pharmacy Services qualification desired but full training can be provided to the right candidate
Experience Essential
The commitment to continue to learn new clinical skills and develop your career The confidence to work as part of a busy GP multi-disciplinary practice team and using your own initiative in decision making The ability to be adaptable and flexible in your approach Excellent patient facing inter-personal communication skills Excellent attention to detail, the ability to work quickly and accurately at all times and the ability to build rapport with both colleagues and patients
