Our team A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a People Operations Advisor to join the International People Operations team based in Birmingham city centre. This is a hybrid role, with a current requirement of working 3 days on site in the Birmingham Office. Eversheds Sutherland prides itself on being a great place to work. The People Operations team is a HR Shared Service which is at the very heart of the employee experience. You will work as part of a professional and energetic team that is at a pivotal point of change, introducing new technology to enhance our People service delivery. Role and key responsibilities The purpose of this role is to provide proactive, high-quality People advice and support across the full employee lifecycle. Working closely with the HR Business Partner team and wider People function, you will play a key role in delivering an exceptional employee experience, ensuring compliance with policy and legislation, and supporting managers to effectively manage their people responsibilities. We are continually looking for smarter and more efficient ways of working, so you'll be encouraged to share ideas, challenge existing processes and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the People function. Building strong relationships will be essential, as you'll work closely with HR Business Partners, managers and colleagues across the business to deliver a seamless and customer-focused service. You will be responsible for a broad range of People activities, including but not limited to: Acting as a first point of contact for People-related queries, providing advice and guidance on policies, procedures and employee lifecycle processes, or referring matters to the appropriate specialist team where required. Providing advice, coaching and guidance to line managers on a range of employee relations matters, including probation, performance management, absence management, flexible working requests and fixed-term contract endings. Supporting the Employee Relations team with disciplinary and grievance processes. Supporting the HR Business Partner and Employee Relations teams with projects, process improvements and other ad hoc initiatives. Managing the leaver process from initiation through to completion, liaising with managers and coordinating activity with the People Operations Offboarding team. Collaborating with immigration advisors to effectively manage a portfolio of immigration compliance processes, including visa and right to work expiry cases from initiation through to resolution. Coordinating all People-related aspects of Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs), ensuring deadlines are met and maintaining regular communication with the Governance & Compliance team. Managing employee lifecycle activity for colleagues within the People function, including onboarding, offboarding and family leave processes. Undertaking peer quality checks to ensure all communications and outputs are accurate, consistent and delivered to a high standard. Skills and experience We’re looking for someone who demonstrates the following: Previous experience in a HR Advisory, HR generalist or People Operations role. Significant experience of providing advice, guidance and support to managers and employees. Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality, accurate work. Ability to effectively prioritise and manage a varied workload in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrable stakeholder management and relationship-building skills. A proactive, solutions-focussed approach to problem solving. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally. Enjoys identifying opportunities to improve processes and ways of working. Proficiency in HR systems and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel. What’s in it for you?
