This position is instrumental in maintaining secure, resilient, and modern network services, which are essential for the seamless operation of City functions and furthering the objectives set forth in the City’s IT Strategic Plan. Reporting Structure: Reporting directly to the Enterprise Network Manager, the Network Coordinator assists with daily network operations, ensuring that the City’s network infrastructure functions reliably and efficiently. Core Responsibilities: The Network Coordinator is responsible for coordinating technical projects and supporting improvements in policy and processes. These efforts are aimed at enhancing service delivery, strengthening business continuity, and promoting standardization across various City departments. Collaboration and Liaison: Acting as a key liaison, the Network Coordinator facilitates communication and coordination among City departments, engineering teams, and third-party vendors. The position ensures that network-related issues are escalated and resolved efficiently, thereby maintaining reliable and accessible network services throughout the organization. Strategic Alignment: The Network Coordinator ensures that all network activities are consistently aligned with the City’s strategic priorities, including innovation, security, transparency, operational value, and a citywide perspective. Key Areas of Responsibility: Assist with network operations and support. Develop, implement and maintain network policies, processes, and procedures. Manage Citywide and department-specific network projects. Coordinate City departments, IT management, Subject Matter Experts and other stakeholders to provide network services. Work with other IT groups and City departments to promote the enterprise network strategy as well as the supporting architecture, implementation, and security requirements. Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory, life cycle management and related documentation. Review, conduct research, and make recommendations for improvements within the City's network program. Regularly evaluate and stay abreast of the latest network technologies and principles Serve as an escalation point for network-related issues, ensuring that complex, high-impact, or unresolved problems are routed appropriately to engineering teams, vendors, or management. Monitor the network for performance, fault and security issues and respond accordingly. Support network infrastructure planning design and implementation activities. Oversee MACD, network equipment installation and configuration and other site provisioning services. Coordinate site surveys and work with customers to gather and translate business needs into technical requirements. Manage third party vendor(s) to properly deliver network services. Work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with tight time constraints. Respond to network issues or questions in a professional and timely manner. Minimum Requirements: Minimum of four (4) years of experience in network operations and support. Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple tasks, timelines, and stakeholders in a fast-paced environment. Clear understanding of network infrastructure and services including firewall management, DMZ, network circuits, WAN/LAN, DNS, DHCP, VPN, monitoring, wiring and cabling, and wireless infrastructure. Knowledge of telecom infrastructure including network data circuits, digital communication systems, cabling and network topology. Understanding of contact center operations, telecom expense management, cloud fundamentals, and security concepts. Ability to work with and manage vendors including: Overseeing and coordination with vendors on an operational level. Holding vendors accountable to contractual obligations, service levels, and agreed-upon deliverables. Navigating multi-vendor environments by facilitating communication, clarifying responsibilities, and ensuring vendors collaborate effectively to support ongoing network operations and project deliverables. Ability to translate business needs into actionable technical requirements. Skilled at explaining technical concepts to both technical and non-technical staff with the ability to articulate how it relates to and impacts the “big picture”. Ability to communicate clearly and succinctly in a way that avoids confusion, builds alignment, and drives timely action across diverse audiences. Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to proactively identify problems and support creative and viable technology solutions. Demonstrated ability to exercise thoughtful, deliberate judgement in fast-moving, high intensity operational environments, with a strong awareness of how decisions impact colleagues, stakeholders, and City operations. Strong quantitative analytical abilities, including a thorough understanding of common data analysis tools and programs. Hands-on experience with ISP coordination, MACD tasks, and site provisioning in operational network environments (preferred). Experience developing or maintaining IT documentation, diagrams, or standard operating procedures. Understanding of change management fundamentals, including risk/impact analysis, scheduling of technical work, and communication to relevant stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to lead complex, cross-departmental technical projects by anticipating and mitigating risks, identifying and removing barriers, and driving timely, policy-aligned solutions in collaboration with diverse stakeholders. Ability to drive technical innovation and cost-effective solutions for the City network technologies. Experience development and documenting training are necessary to use network services as well as documenting the roles and call escalations for supervisors. Desirable Qualifications: The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications: Excellent interpersonal, customer service, and communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages appropriately to diverse audiences, including City leadership, elected officials, and community stakeholders. Experience developing disaster recovery plans along with standard operating procedures for planned outages and redundancy. Interest in municipal activities and services and how they impact the community. Highly ethical and objective, with the ability to navigate in a political environment without being political. Energetic and motivated with the ability and desire to take initiative.
