About this role

The AIS substations group is a key part of HV Substations Delivery and is responsible for the design of HV substation assets and infrastructure for ESB Networks. This includes both conceptual and detailed engineering design, design safety management, design programming, construction support and commercial management. Collaboration with a range stakeholder is a key function of this role including EMP Networks Project Delivery, Networks Assets, Networks Customer Delivery and other external delivery services and contingent labour providers. Key Responsibilities Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: Manage the delivery work programme of AIS substation design projects for Networks Customer Delivery and EMP Networks Project Delivery. Responsible for the prioritising of the work programme to ensure the most effective delivery strategy for Networks Customer Delivery and Networks Project Delivery. Support the Engineering Manager in the overall management of HV Substations Delivery and manage the delivery of the Business Plan in alignment with ESB Brighter Future Strategic Objectives and Values. Manage a group of multidisciplinary project teams (Civil, Substation design, quantity surveying and construction management) responsible for the design, material management and supporting construction of AIS Substations Projects. Responsible for the resourcing and development of staff within the AIS stations group. Responsible for developing and maintaining a consistent coordinated communications strategy with Networks Customer Delivery Lead Project Managers and Networks Project Delivery Project Managers. Responsible to produce project progress reports detailing, key performance indicators, resources, commercial performance, prioritisation of projects and at-risk projects or deliverables. To drive and develop innovation within the AIS Substation design teams. Ensure that relevant Networks Engineering quality procedures are implemented on all projects. Be accountable for the overall service and performance of the team and manage any matters that result from team performance/relationship issues. Communicate and engage team members in the business challenges, successes, activities and initiatives on an on-going basis Knowledge, Skills and Experience Essential Essential knowledge, skills and experience: Strong leadership and management skills with a minimum of 10 years' relevant experience. Either a relevant 3rd Level qualification or equivalent work experience is essential. Ability to contribute to the management and strategic direction of the business A demonstrated focus on commerciality and customer service. Significant internal and/or external stakeholder management experience Experience and success in delivering business objectives/change through people Proven ability to manage performance through people Excellent communication skills both in terms of Team leadership, stakeholder management and written and verbal presentation Demonstrated alignment to Our Values Full clean EU Drivers Licence Project Management Skills Desirable Experience in performing PSDP role on projects. Experience in use of FIDIC conditions of contract. Experience in the design and construction of civil and electrical works for transmission and distribution projects. Short-listing will be based on whether operating at next level has been a feature of development conversations. Location This position will be based in The Sidings or in our Eastgate Cork office. Travel to project locations for site visits will also be a requirement of the role.
