The General Industrial Ecoat Laboratory is seeking a Senior Chemist to lead the development, commercialization, and line maintenance efforts for new and existing products designed for the General Industrial Market. This individual will work closely with technical management, sales and marketing to identify the needs and timelines for product developments and will coordinate project activities with all the pertinent functions within SW.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS

• -Be a subject matter expert on Pretreatment technologies and interactions with Ecoat.

• -Serves as the primary contact for highly technical and complex questions and concerns from plants, research professionals, quality control, customers, and other internal and external parties regarding liquid coating technology platforms.

• -Effectively managing time and resources to ensure that projects work is delivered on long- and short-term goals.

• -Manages maintenance of business, new business opportunities, and personnel who analyze, test, and develop new or updated formulas; will perform tasks that require comprehensive understanding of chemistry, product lines, and materials

• -Effectively communicating projects and deliverables to team

• -Identifying and understanding customers’ issues, while providing and implementing best course of action.

• -Creating and supporting a cooperative work environment.

• -Written and verbal communication of team and project related information to key stakeholders and management.

• -Communicating/interfacing with other departments and divisions including Technical, Marketing, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, Analytical.

Minimum Requirements: Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or a related discipline and two semesters of general and organic Chemistry each. 5+ years of experience in Industrial chemical manufacturing field

• Must have a minimum of 2 years in Pretreatment or Ecoat field

• Must have previous project management experience

• Preferred Qualifications:

• 5+ years of product development and/or Commercialization experience is preferred

• Knowledge or experience in General Industrial paint formulations and processing

• Knowledge of the Industrial Coatings market and regulations

• Knowledge of Ecoat Chemistry

• Knowledge of thin film nano pretreatment

• Training in Design of Experiments and Design for Six Sigma

• Proven successful project management and commercial success

• Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to sit, stand, hear, and see on a constant basis. :

• Must be able to walk, write, and type on a frequent basis.

• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

• Must be able to climb and descend stairs.

• Must be able to bend, carry, reach, push, and pull on an occasional basis.

• Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing.

• May work indoors and outdoors as needed. Exposure to heat up to 120 degrees and cold to 0 degrees.

• May work in areas where noise level is such that hearing protection is required.

• May work in areas where toxic, flammable, and hazardous materials are present.

• May be exposed to varying amounts of dust and dirt.

• Work surfaces may include concrete.

• Employee must be able to tolerate non-toxic paint odors and be able to wear a respirator as required.

• Employee must be able to operate a computer and communicate via telephone.

• Travel to other locations, meetings and/or seminars is required.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: 20% Successful candidate will be required to sign an Employee Restrictive Covenant Agreement where permitted by law.
