Job Overview

As a Maintenance Mechanic I, you'll be at the center of what keeps our operation running safely and efficiently. From daily equipment checks to routine repairs and facility support, you'll help keep our teams moving and reduce downtime across the operation.

This is a hands-on role where you'll build experience with material handling equipment, facility systems, building structures, and power industrial truck battery maintenance. You'll work independently on routine tasks, partner with the team on assigned projects, and play an important part in making sure the work gets done.

If you enjoy solving problems, learning how equipment works, and seeing the direct impact of your work every day, this role offers a strong foundation for building your maintenance career. Every inspection, repair, and adjustment you make helps keep the business moving.

How our Colleagues spend their day…

• Our colleagues create genuine connections by starting every interaction with warmth and sincerity. They know that hospitality is a feeling—shown through a smile, a kind word, and intentional conversations that build trust and lasting relationships.

• When mistakes happen, they apologize authentically listening with empathy, valuing the customer's experience, and committing to making things right.

• They take the time to truly understand customer needs before acting. They take ownership in every situation, being proactive in finding solutions, offering helpful resources, and communicating clearly and confidently.

• Their full attention is always on the customer. To reassure customers, they follow through with clarity and consistency, delivering on promises and making things right when expectations aren't met.

• They know that excellence is shown by focusing on what matters most to the customer

What To Expect

• Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair material handling equipment, conveyor systems, powered industrial truck batteries, battery changers, facility sweepers, and related warehouse equipment.

• Observe and listen to operating machines or equipment to diagnose malfunctions and determine whether adjustment or repair is needed.

• Dismantle, inspect, repair, replace, rebuild, assemble, and test equipment and mechanical parts to verify proper operation.

• Use shop tools such as grinders, drill presses, cutting torches, and welding equipment to repair or join metal parts.

• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area while following OSHA, state, local, and Macy’s Logistics Operations safety standards.

How You’ll Make an Impact

• Keep warehouse operations moving by maintaining equipment reliability and reducing downtime.

• Support a safe working environment by following maintenance safe work practices and reporting issues to leadership quickly.

• Partner with team members, supervisors, and operations teams to complete repairs, preventive maintenance, and assigned projects.

• Help create an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships and supports authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities.
