CLP was founded in Hong Kong in 1901, at a time when electricity was still a novelty worldwide. Today we power millions of homes and businesses across the Asia-Pacific region with over 8,000 employees. In Hong Kong, we operate a vertically integrated electricity business providing a highly reliable supply of electricity to over 80% of the city’s population. Outside Hong Kong, we invest in the energy sector on the Chinese Mainland, in Australia, India, Taiwan Region and Thailand. Our business spans the electricity value chain ranging from power generation, transmission and distribution to retail and smart energy services. We have a diversified portfolio of generating assets that uses a wide range of fuels sources including nuclear, renewables, gas and coal. CLP Engineering Graduate Trainee Programme 2027
At CLP, our two-year Engineering Graduate Trainee Programme offers an intensive learning journey that will support you to unleash your potential. You will get broad exposure across CLP’s operations in Hong Kong, the Chinese Mainland and other locations, acquire the skills and tools needed to prepare you for leading energy transition and digitalisation projects, as well as build a strong network with other graduates.
Upon successful completion of the programme and satisfactory performance, you will be offered a position in one of our engineering departments, leading to a career as an Engineering Manager and beyond. Many of our senior leaders began their careers in our Engineering Graduate Trainee Programme.
Following the programme, you will join one of the business groups below.

Who are we looking for? We're looking for individuals who are curious, driven, and excited by the opportunity to make a difference. You may be the right fit if you:
• Are a final-year student or recent graduate (with no more than 3 years' full-time work experience) with a Bachelor's degree or above in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from a university (1) • Have outstanding academic achievements • Are passionate about developing a professional engineering career in the energy industry • Want to contribute to creating sustainable energy solutions for shareholders, customers, communities and future generations • Enjoy solving problems and learning from new challenges • Demonstrate leadership potential and thrive in diverse teams • Have an agile, innovative and commercial mindset, with strong problem-solving abilities • Are interested in data analytics, digital solutions and emerging technologies • Communicate effectively in both spoken and written English and Chinese • Are open to operational responsibilities such as shift and/or standby duties, where required Remarks: (1) Participants with academic qualifications recognised by the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE) may undergo HKIE-accredited Scheme “A” Training. For graduates studying outside Hong Kong, please check with HKIE/ Engineering Council/ CEEAA for information on Scheme “A” accreditation programme.
