About the role 
 We are looking for a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our Engineering team in a fast-paced FMCG manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, calibrating, and improving instrumentation, electrical, and mechanical equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable plant operation. The ideal candidate will have a strong instrumentation background combined with electrical multi-skilling, with experience working on process instrumentation, control systems, electrical equipment, and plant assets. You will be responsible for diagnosing faults, testing, repairing, calibrating, and maintaining instrumentation and electrical systems, while supporting the maintenance of mechanical equipment across the site. Working as part of a continental shift team, you will play a key role in delivering planned and preventative maintenance, responding to equipment breakdowns, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. You will work closely with production and engineering teams to maximise equipment performance, minimise downtime, and support operational excellence. This position operates on a continental shift pattern with a staggered 2-day / 3-day rotation, providing 24/7 engineering support to the manufacturing operation. The successful candidate will bring strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills, a proactive approach to maintenance, and a commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement. Experience in a manufacturing environment, particularly within FMCG or food production, together with the ability to work effectively in a dynamic production setting, will be essential for success in this role.

Key responsibilities 

• Demonstrate a Safety First, Quality Always mindset in all activities, completing dynamic risk assessments, risk assessments, and quality handback forms as required. • Promote a strong safety culture through compliance with QSHE standards, Kerry policies, and engineering standards while embracing Kerry values. • Contribute to the development and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for repeatable maintenance activities. • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the assigned area and work alongside cross-functional teams to enhance production performance. • Identify improvement opportunities and work with the maintenance function to implement effective solutions. • Work effectively with production teams across all process areas, transferring technical knowledge through the asset care strategy. • Liaise with OEMs and external suppliers to obtain technical assistance when required. • Ensure plant issues are resolved efficiently and effectively to optimise plant throughput across production, process, and utility areas. • Apply plant knowledge and engineering expertise to prioritise maintenance activities, with breakdowns taking precedence over planned work when necessary. • Carry out Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) activities in line with maintenance schedules. • Diagnose faults, test, repair, calibrate, and maintain instrumentation, electrical, and mechanical equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operation.

• Observe, identify, and report machinery or component defects, potential failures, and relevant SAP CMMS data. • Maintain accurate engineering records and update systems in accordance with company procedures, including SAP, Change Control, and SCADA. • Identify and implement improvement opportunities in partnership with the maintenance function. • Contribute to the site's KAMS excellence journey. • Escalate engineering issues through the Maintenance Supervisor or appropriate function. • Maintain departmental 5S standards within workshops and stores. • Undertake additional tasks, projects, or assignments as requested by the Maintenance Manager or Maintenance Supervisor.

Qualifications and skills 

• Electrical, Instrumentation, or related Engineering Trade Qualification, Diploma, or Degree. • The ideal person would have strong instrumentation background with electrical multiskilling • Minimum 3 years' experience in a manufacturing environment. • Strong fault-finding, diagnostic, and troubleshooting skills across instrumentation, control, electrical, and mechanical systems.

• Knowledge of maintenance best practices and Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS). • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. • Strong technical analysis and report-writing skills. • Ability to interpret CAD drawings for electrical, mechanical, and facility-related applications. • Fluent in English and the local site language. • Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills. • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to maintain accurate technical documentation and maintenance records. • Experience within the food manufacturing or FMCG industry. • CAD and programming knowledge. • Experience working in a continuous improvement environment. • Knowledge of asset care, reliability, and preventative maintenance methodologies. • Contribute to maintaining site downtime at or below target levels. • Support the reduction of engineering breakdown escalations. • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to achieving site KAMS excellence targets.
