Job Title: EHS SpecialistJob DescriptionThe EHS Specialist will support the Environmental, Health & Safety function in a manufacturing environment by partnering closely with site leadership to maintain a safe workplace, ensure regulatory compliance, and promote a strong safety culture. This role focuses on OSHA compliance, safety audits and inspections, incident investigations, employee safety training, and continuous improvement initiatives. The EHS Specialist will spend significant time on the production floor working directly with employees and supervisors to identify hazards, implement corrective actions, and support environmental compliance efforts. Responsibilities • Partner with Environmental, Health & Safety leadership to support site-wide safety programs and initiatives. • Maintain and promote a safe workplace by spending significant time on the production floor and being a visible safety presence. • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify hazards, unsafe behaviors, and non-compliance issues. • Perform incident and near-miss investigations, document findings, and support root cause analysis to prevent recurrence. • Support and facilitate employee safety training sessions, including orientation, refresher courses, and topic-specific training. • Assist with OSHA compliance activities, ensuring adherence to applicable regulations and internal safety standards. • Participate in job hazard analysis (JHA) activities to identify risks and recommend appropriate controls. • Support environmental compliance efforts, including monitoring processes and documentation related to environmental regulations. • Maintain safety documentation, including records of audits, inspections, training, incident reports, and corrective actions. • Follow up on corrective actions to ensure timely completion and verify the effectiveness of implemented solutions. • Assist with OSHA 300 log management and other regulatory reporting as needed. • Support SDS and chemical inventory management to ensure accurate records and proper handling of hazardous materials. • Promote employee engagement in safety programs by communicating effectively and encouraging participation in safety initiatives. • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to enhance safety processes, procedures, and culture. • Collaborate with operations and facility leadership to integrate safety and environmental considerations into daily activities and projects. Essential Skills • At least 2 years of Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) experience within a manufacturing environment. • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety compliance requirements. • Proven experience conducting safety audits and inspections in a manufacturing setting. • Demonstrated experience performing incident investigations and documenting findings. • Experience facilitating safety training and employee engagement initiatives. • Ability to maintain a strong floor presence and interact directly with employees and supervisors. • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively across all levels of the organization. • Ability to identify hazards, recommend corrective actions, and support continuous improvement in safety performance. Additional Skills & Qualifications • OSHA 30 Certification. • Experience with Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and program support. • Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) experience, including identifying risks and recommending controls. • Experience managing OSHA 300 logs and related regulatory documentation. • Environmental compliance experience within a manufacturing environment. • Experience with Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and chemical inventory management. • Familiarity with root cause analysis methodologies such as 5 Why and 8D. • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Technology, or a related field. • Background in manufacturing EHS or safety programs, including continuous improvement initiatives. Work EnvironmentThis position is fully onsite within a manufacturing facility and involves a combination of office-based work and time spent on the production floor. The EHS Specialist will regularly move between production areas and office spaces while collaborating with operations and facility leadership. The role requires comfort working in an active industrial setting that may include machinery, production lines, and varying noise levels. The EHS Specialist will support safety initiatives, audits, inspections, training, and compliance activities across the site, using standard office tools and EHS documentation systems while maintaining a professional appearance appropriate for both office and manufacturing floor environments. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Madison, AL. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $38.00 - $42.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
